The mesh has bumps that don't corespend to it's image which makes it look low res also you need to imput textures by taking close shots of the area then import them it's highly recommend. Also use a bit of AI upscaling for added effect.

Basically by default in Unity textures are set to be displayed as 2k by 2k resolution. If you didn't increase the res of each texture (by highlighting them all & changing it in the Inspector) then it certainly will end up being blurry in VRChat & the Unity project itself when the camera is near. TLDR: High res textures will never show it's true resolution in Unity unless you specify what res you want.. Hope this helps!

the texture rendering in Unity might need an atlas/texture streaming type implementation so it can cope with multiple hi-rez images as input

the texture may be compressed in unity. you'll wanna find the image in your unity assets, click it and then go to the inspector, look at the bottom and make sure compression is set to none. you may wanna increase the max size too.

You'll want to give RealityCapture or Metashape a try to get the most out of your photos. They'll let you generate models that use multiple textures to squeeze the highest texel density possible out of your source data.

You should try taking those photos and making them into a NeRF. From there I think you can also turn it into a model as well.

I once tried to do this with a local lighthouse on a pier. Because it took weeks for my GTX 1060 to process it using Meshroom, I never ended up finishing it. Now that I have more powerful hardware I think I might go back to finish it. One thing I've thought of trying was manually retopologizing some of the finer or uneven details in the mesh.

when converting images to 3d models. depending on what u used to do it, it will lose detail. the reason being. most image to model software draws shaped with portions of the image on it. when you have an elevation change, most software doesnt know what to slap on the vertical side and does a flat color. then you have the image translation onto the model surface. it basically just compresses it. onlt software i know that can get detail from a pic is only for small scale models

If you’re pictures are straight up higher res than the texture, you could retexture the model with the photos.

@@TheMysticle The textures should definitely just be an image. You might be looking at the material, if you click on the material you should be able to find the single image texture on it. Unless the program made multiple materials with multiple textures. Then that’d be a real pain.

photogrammetry is "work in progress" for such a long time, that i didnt seen any improvement since i first heard about it lol. At this rate propably someone will make an AI tool for this (since everything is AI nowadays) and we will get rid of the photogrammetry forever. It doesnt even look remotely good, you can find maps like this on vrchat - not a pleasant way to experience to be honest, cool experiment but not really something to impress your friends :D :D

5:10 My job is to make 3D assets (i'm learning at least) so i guess i can help:to me the reason is that each pixel uses memory, and having large landscapes you need to reduce the quality for it to run real time, photogrammetry is yet a tech in progress, you can use it for small objects but if you go closer you'll see the imperfections, maybe too it is the software you use that just caps the definition according to the size of the object, as if you were never to zoom this much on it, maybe it exists better softwares but yeah nothing much better for landscapes in my experience

Photogrammetry precision vs Lidar precision?...optic cameras aren't made to do accurate 3d models, you need to go closer to the ground and make extra scans manually for every detail like the stairs etc. I'm making my town in a videogame like Gta VR but using GIS data (Topography). Best solution in this case is to export the stl to UE5 or Unity and paint everything with megascans and quixel, with realistic looking grass or textures.
