Love this real ham and bean soup recipe .. no canned broth! Real food made at home. So many people cook using canned/boxed broth from the store and stuff like dried Lipton onion soup. Why waste peoples time showing them how to open a box of overly-processed broth instead of showing them how to make broth/soup from scratch that is not loaded with preservatives, sugars, bad oils, etc THANK YOU .. I haven't made it yet but plan to in near future, good Lord willing, and know it will be excellent

Bean soup has always been one of my favourites, your right never throw out the ham bone. And in my case I have been known to poach the ham bone from my Mom. Course I always bring her back some of the soup. 😁!!!

I made almost 16 quarts of soup today and I recommend that everybody try making navy bean soup once with a bunch of ham hocks because it gives the soup such a delicious flavor! I didn't even need to add salt and I added in some fresh thyme pepper bay leaf The usual suspects. And that ham hock meet got sweet in the soup literally I had to put the meat in the refrigerator because every time I rolled by it I was going to eat some. :-)

Thank you, I also like to add chopped carrots, celery and a couple bay leaves. You can quickly thicken the soup by scooping out beans with some liquid and using a stik or immersion blender to puree the beans and put back in. Blessings to you my friend!

@No Menu Cooking God bless you & your. Family also . Guess what I'm making. Again I saved my Ham bone with extra ham and made my husband & I homemade bean soup with Buttermilk cornbread (a must have with many dishes, but we love it with bean soup also . We are in our 50s and trying to cook what we can with these outrageous prices on everything. I've even been making homemade bread ( our 2 granddaughters love coming over and learning All these great life sustaining tips. My daughter m law is like you are the best I've been teaching them how to garden they love watching that little seed grow into tomatoes, all kinds of peppers, squashes, cantaloupe etc etc They even had a plant sale last spring as we grew more than we needed. Our neighbors were so happy as we sold them for $2 -plus many free. As the stores were crazy even last spring- selling tomato. Plants for over $7 Teaching our child and grandchildren Is so.important Im.so glad my dad & grandmother taught all of us. God bless you & I hope you save money with our economy by gardening Josette Texas

You made more of a part of beans than a soup. I had carrots celery onions garlic and potatoes when I make it in the winter and it's -9°. If I make it in the fall or spring I don't make it quite so vegetable heavy. :-)

Thanks for the video. About at the 2:40 mark, you were cutting that onion pretty fast. If I had tried that, it would have probably have to have been called "red" onions. And at about the 9:00 minute mark you said that you were going to take a "quick taste test". There ain't no such thing. I am sure you "chowed down" during that "quick taste test". I just subscribed; your house is now on my "good meals" list. So when is dinner?
@NoMenuCooking Жыл бұрын
Lol...I made one video where I sliced my finger on it and when I edited the video I used that part of the video as a safety warning. I finaly grew the skin back on my finger tip...lol. I definitely did chow down with a nice bowl as a taste test...I could not help myself because some how I just could not put the spoon down! Thanks for watching my video and I appreciate your comment.

When you hit that metal spatula on the rim of the pot at the end of stirring the onions, it looked like you chipped off some porcelain in the food. Around 3:23 be careful.

Hi. The starch from the beans break down as they cook and makes the water thicker.
