Earnest, honest and passionate communication about a very deep subject that touches artists and all of us. Most of us will be familiar with many of the principals discussed, but this is an especially condensed, coherent statement of them. A very likable presenter, who conveyed a authentic desire to explain it all - as a profound, revelatory new way of thinking and seeing. This is really something special. EvolveArtist should have, many, many,many more subscribers!

Thank you Matt! Really appreciate the thoughtful and kind words. One of my favorite quotes from Kevin (my art teacher) is “there’s no such thing as advanced techniques, only an advanced understanding of the fundamentals.” Kevin and I are constantly discussing new ways to explain these familiar concepts because they’re so powerful but are so easily overlooked. It’s great to hear that you recognize and appreciate them. 🙂 ~ Daniel

It is so helpful to have you simplify the fundamentals to make it easier to understand how to truly create art! Thanks so much!

I never realized how many decisions go into a painting until I started doing it myself. And there’s no “undo” button or eraser haha! It’s intimidating n exhausting, but I learn from each attempt and am improving.
@evolveartist2 жыл бұрын
That's awesome! Yes there is no "undo" button, which makes it all the more important to have a process for making paintings that can help simplify and guide the decisions that you make to get to the intended result 🙂 Also, some mediums are more forgiving than others. Oil paint is arguably much more forgiving than acrylic (and especially watercolor), and it was one of the reasons why we chose to teach this process and these fundamentals in oil. ~ Daniel

What Easel would you recommend for one being placed on the table?
@evolveartist Жыл бұрын
It can depend on your situation / needs. The one behind me in this video is my table easel and I really like that it has the ability to drop down below the table for larger paintings: www.jerrysartarama.com/renoir-table-easel-and-sketch-box-easel-with-metal-lined-drawer-oiled-beechwood-66713?gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw1MajBhAcEiwAagW9MZj7BH_kHTLja6J1jd-T8DeETOlqseFRn6ZTQbz3V0tHxksFiZFJjRoCVIQQAvD_BwE We also have a list of recommended easels for our students in the Evolve Program. Honestly the best colour theory video I've watched. Enjoyed the simplicity.
@evolveartist3 жыл бұрын
Yes!! That makes me happy to hear 😊because it's so easy to overcomplicate color! It's honestly best to practice color matching and building up experience for yourself, rather than start with reading books on color theory. Then when questions begin to form through your practice, go search for those answers. This helps cut away at wasting time gleaning information you don't need when you're first starting out 😊~ Daniel

I’ve watched all the videos in this playlist. You explain things so clearly! I am interested in the program but the fee is very intimidating-$2000… and I also do not quite understand why students have to use the BEST PAINT in the world provided in your program. To me, it’s unnecessary extra charges paid to Evolve. Wish students had their own choice of the paint they use.

Hey ColorsinGrace, this is a fantastic question! Why does Evolve insist that their students use the best paint in the world and provide it for them?? I will actually be making a substantial video about this within the next month or two so that I can fully explain it because I have a million reasons why! So please be on the lookout for that, but here I’ll at least give you this to ponder - Evolve gets students to pro level painting skills in about 1 year (based on our avg student putting in only 7 hours a week). Ateliers take at least 3 years (of 20-40 hours a week) to get there, and art colleges take 4-5 years if they even get them there at all. Now what if I told you that one of the reasons why we get results so fast is because we use the best paint in the world? If this is true, two objections come to my mind. The first is, “Okay, it’s faster but what about the price?” Well, Evolve is about 100x cheaper than ateliers and art colleges. So we get results faster and for less money, (and we guarantee results). Second objection is, “Does this mean that the paint makes the artist good, rather than the artist themself being good?” No. Good material doesn’t make an artist any better. But bad material can hold an artist back for a host of reasons, such as creating bad habits to compensate for the material and not being able to tell when it’s the fault of the artist or the fault of the material (which then makes it really hard to improve). So, in summary, if you’re serious about improving your painting skills, Evolve is a great investment that costs way less than its competitors and gets results much much faster. Now, I understand that this might not make Evolve’s price tag any less intimidating if you’re comparing the price to one-time online tutorials and courses. But we’re quite a different animal than a course or subscription that simply gives you access to educational videos and a list of recommended supplies. Instead, we become your personal guide to reaching pro level art skills from start to finish. This involves back and forth feedback on every single one of your assignments, and access to one-on-one meetings with instructors to ensure that you are understanding the material. We have an interactive community of students to encourage and inspire one another. And as you know we ship the materials to our students all over the world to ensure quality control for no additional fees. We very much make it our responsibility to get results for our students. All we ask for from our students is the personal commitment to do the work and follow our instructions. I hope that helps you understand a bit more why we are “insane” enough to provide the best paints to our beginning students 😂 and keep an eye on the lookout for that video where I’ll talk much more specifically about why we use such high quality paint and how it helps artists learn so much faster and more effectively. Let me know if you have any questions about this at all 😊 ~ Daniel

Sounds like a great course, but I simply couldn’t afford it living on disability. Wish there were more payment options.
@eyeonart68652 жыл бұрын
If you bought the old holland paint yourself you would save loads of money. What they do not tell you is all the extra stuff you have to buy on your own. If I am paying thousands of dollars for a course I shouldn't have to buy more stuff myself. By the time you finish the course you will have spent $10,000 or ?

Do you teach composition or perspective?
@evolveartist Жыл бұрын
Here's a video of me teaching composition to our advanced students: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYfSh52MZZefrposi=szIl18jG2oXsGWba We don't specifically teach linear perspective in drawing, but we do teach proportional drawing from life so that you can draw anything with incredible accuracy. We do teach on atmospheric perspective - here are two videos about that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHO8daeErbqGatEsi=Uc-h5RHD2DrB2yQk kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJ21g5ytgrOdZqMsi=0Y_nM0xMEKorq6Zs Let me know what you think 🙂 - Daniel
