Here's how I think of it: моя машина сломалась - My car broke down. у меня машина сломалась - The car broke down on me. In English we use the second one to almost say as if the car let us down, failed us. I needed that car, and it did this to me. The first one is just the bare fact: It is now inoperable. The second indicates that it broke down at just the time that I needed it in order to do something. This is my understanding of the Russian version of that usage.

And the last one _isn't really mistake, just a fact:_ his name is spelled "Фёдор" with "ё" instead of "е". Secondly, important note about "you", "your" etc. on russian: In russian, using "ты", "твой", "твои" is ok. But better use it when you talk *unofficially,* to friends and people you know. Эта особенность хорошо видна в обратной ситуации - когда русскоязычные учат английский. Типичное объяснение, что to have - это "иметь", по сути, неверно. Т.е технически как будто бы да, но по факту мы никогда не говорим "Я имею кота" и т.д.. Однако выбить из учеников установку, что to have - это "иметь" почему-то практически невозможно, так же как отучить их опускать "It is..." при переводе.

The translation of this phrase may depend on the context. F.e. "I have a cup of coffee and a sandwich for breakfast" can be translated as "У меня на завтрак чашка кофе и сандвич (бутерброд)" (by the way you can translate it also "Я завтракаю кофе с бутербродом" or "На завтрак я ем кофе и бутерброд") But if you're ordering coffee in a restaurant you can't say "У меня чашка кофе, пожалуйста". This is a very gross mistake and you may not be understood. If you would like to order coffee, say "Мне чашку кофе, пожалуйста", "Принесите мне кофе, пожалуйста" or "Я хотел (хотела) бы чашку кофе". In general, if you want to buy something, never use the construction "У меня..." like "I have" in English.
