You can use your GoPro Hero 8 or Hero 9 as a webcam on both Windows and MacOS.

If you want high quality or 1080p60, you will need to use the HDMI output from the GoPro and use a HDMI capture device. The utility caps out at only 1080p30, but still it's a pretty simple setup even with this limitation.

Gopro webcam for PC doesn't work, possibly due to the new GoPro update, until GoPro updates tge webcam software, find alternate means.

On My Mac running Mac OS Ventura and GProHero 8 every time I want to chat I need to reconnect my GoPro.. it just such a hustle. I was hoping I could leave it connected with out a battery and it would just work.. But I need to reconnect it and often restart it... Did you maybe have any of the same issues and know how to fix them?

Thank you, this is a useful feature I did not know the GoPro had, on your main camera the color of your shirt looks gray, but when you switch to the GoPro it turns to navy blue, is there a reason for that? Would you please list the brands of the equipment in your set up, your mic is of a high quality, I think the sound is excellent.

My main camera is a Canon C200 so it's in a whole different league compared to the GoPro. My shirt is blue gray but the GoPro oversaturates it and makes it look a little more blue that it is. Just a different color profile, not that it looks all that bad IMO. For the mic, I'm usually using a Rhode Wireless Go and a Senheiser ME2-II lavalier mic. For gaming, I use the Blue Yeti X you see mounted to the table.

No 60fps in 1080p is a bummer, they could definitely have done that over USB3 as well. It seems like the best option for a GoPro route for streaming or content creation from a studio is probs an older gopro and a capture card.

Yeah, it is kind of a bummer. I suspect it may be a limitation with compression and internal processing (heat generation) to be able to send only a 1080p30 signal over usb. 1080p60 or 4K signal over HDMI is the raw signal without any processing is probably a lot easier on the internals of the gopro.

I have a rather technical question, do you think it's possible with OBS to be able to plug in for example 4 Go Pro, to display them in camera mode on OBS and then to be able to make an automatic capture (still on obs) of 4 go pro and that at the same time (and in source format) and that the captures in question are then automatically saved on windows? Hi, I am a bit late to the party, but when I go to the download, it sends me to a community website, where the downlad link looks really shady and not official at all. Which way would be better? I'm assuming the more difficult way since it's through HDMI I'm assuming frame rate and resolution would be superior than USB-C? Then again as a webcam generally the best you need is 1080/60 so maybe USB-C is more than enough? Lastly, can this be used for a PS5?

Yeah, that's the word I was looking for.. this is a pretty good EXCUSE to buy a go pro, considering that I am not at all into any action videos.. Have you used it in a actual video conferencing? I am hearing about lags which is not so cool in a conference.. Also, view should be narrower, I don't want to show my entire rooms mess in work conference.. And it's interesting that you mentioned the quality is just at par with standalone cams..
