If you make things using fabric then chances are you have fabric scraps in your sewing space. Some days I feel that my scraps are overtaking my stash. Fabric bookmarks are a quick way to use some of your scraps and you can give them as gifts for any occasion. With a little creativity and craftiness you can personalize them for the people in your life.

While I was watching I thought how many times have you been reading and wanted to jot something down from the book. Maybe a small pocket with small scrap paper in it would be useful. Maybe the back of business cards.

I made a huge batch of those for a kids bible class I help out in. The kids LOVED it, the other volunteer even asked me "are you trying to be the favorite" lol.

What a fun idea, Robin! It’s helpful to be reminded that just because we make something out of fabric it doesn’t mean it has to be washed.

Long before my family started quilting, wr made book marks w clear contact paper and glitter, scraps of yarn or construction paper. They were a favorite of all the grandparents. Most of my family uses some form of electronic reader now. But my 5yr old wants to learn to sew. Grandparents might be getting quilted books marks this year wether they use them or not! 😂 thanks for the idea and the memory trigger!

I work at a library and make fabric bookmarks to sell to raise money. If anyone enjoys this craft, maybe you could consider asking if they want some to sell. I use batting sometimes in the way you show, but usually use stiff interfacing on one side and then I pink the edges rather than turn. I top stitch or use decorative stitch. This is cool-thanks for sharing!

KIM37354 Wonderful idea for a library sale. You can also make a very simple version by sewing some fabric to card stock. That may feel more like a “real” bookmark to some patrons. If you have thin cardboard from cereal or cracker boxes you wouldn’t even need to buy card stock. 😉

KIM37354 I’m feeling chatty today so please forgive me. Have you ever tried making fabric postcards? I was making some this morning is why it popped into my head. They might do well at your library sale. P.S. I do have a series of videos if you’ve never made fabric postcards before 😇

RsIslandCrafts - What great ideas! I will hunt for the video on fabric postcards-that is an awesome idea and would fit in with the homemade cards that we sell, but much easier! I am using donated fabric today to make simple table toppers for the library. love your channel, you have helped me a lot!

It's nice to have a basket with little gifts. Especially with the holidays right around the corner. I've always loved the idea of having a basket near the door where guests (friends and family too ;) ) can grab a little something on their way out.

Very cute! I would suggest keeping them fairly thin. Bookmarks that are too thick can lead to damage in the spine of the book.

What a great little project! There are two local quilt shops nearby - one of them processes all of the scraps that people would otherwise toss & repurposes them into other kits, etc. or if they're too small for that, then they collect them in a pillowcase & when full it becomes a pet bed for donation at our local shelter. The other quilt shop just tosses the scraps when they have classes - I'm trying to work up my nerve to ask if I can put a pillowcase or box or bag - something to collect them - one person's scraps is another person's project :) Always great to watch your videos!! Scrapitude :)

I think that's pretty amazing. I've heard some quilters throw away some pretty large "scraps" during classes and retreats. Well, maybe not at a Bonnie Hunter retreat lol.

What a wonderful idea! I am making small-ish gifts and putting them aside for family members. I have two sisters who come visit once a year and we "trade gifts". Now I can add book marks and a book for them. Thank you for all the inspiration my dear friend, hope you are well. You are in my prayers!

Yes, but they were all in pieces and I hadn’t finished the envelopes with their new linings. Some projects have many steps and take several days, weeks, or months to compete. Which means we may be looking at the same project each week and wondering if we’ve made any true progress.
