I have a 1996 A4 Quattro with the manual and the 2.8 v6. It has nearly 300,000 miles and is still going strong.

That's awesome, back in 2001 I bought a 1996 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro 5-speed manual with 80000 miles for $8,000, it was such a beautiful car. It was a bit underpowered because it wasn't the 5 valve 2.8 but I wish I didn't sell it. Have you had any major issues? When I sold mine the only thing I had done was the catalytic converters, and then I also redid the control arms up front, I had hit a curb but they needed to be done anyways

I just bought the same car for $900. Was going to use it for autocross with a swapped engine but for now just impressed with what a good daily it is. Wondering what problems tend to appear in this variant?

@@jdmimportlogistics that's awesome, for 900 bucks , I saw a 2001 loaded silver Audi A4 2.8 5-speed manual with a new clutch perfect condition for $4,000, it was worth way more than that try finding a manual 2.8 facelift B5 it's so difficult. The control arms in front suspension are weak points, also the cooling system the coolant tanks are just old and they crack so I would definitely check that, and then make sure the spark plugs are up-to-date. What year is yours? How is it cosmetically

@@nicholasbabeaux2052 Great Thnx for the advice! It's a 96' with a dent in the passenger side front fender conveniently located for a wastegate dump pipe haha. No I bought the car originally to use as the base chassis for a Sport quattro build due to not finding a 4K quattro. However, I've since found a 4K but the old A4B5 has grown on me. Your right though haven't seen any 1st gen. A4's since.

I love the interior in the 1.8 shown. the two tone looks great. owning a b5 a4 1.8 for years the most common failures i have seen or heard of has been the central locking pump failing needing replacement, timing belts, wire connector plugs deteriorating. other wise than that. maintaince is key with these cars. for anyone in the states, the b5's have airbag recall right now. call your local dealer for a replacement

I have the 1998 1.8L works great no breakdowns.. Just regular maintenance and parts changes it's all is needed.. At 275k km at the moment

I have a 270k km 1.8t AEB, the only problem I have, it takes rain inside. Windshield plastics parts in the engine bay are very cheesy from factory. A little crack in it, and the car would leak rain water inside...

we have a 1999 with an oil leak coming from around the oil filter area, we changes the filter and still leaking.. ani one else have this problem?

Probably the oilfilterfilterhousing gasket. Remove the oilfilterhouse and change the gasket.

@@ExpoPerformence it runs exceptionally well for the mileage(216,000). Biggest problem is finding parts. ECS Tuning and Ebay Motors are your best bet. Will be doing a timing belt soon to ensure another 100k

Honestly, this is not good advice. Just the statement that the 1.8T is more reliable as the 1.8 NA is just false. There a so many more common issues that are not even mentioned in the video. Better go on forums, there are alot of disscusions about this.
