In my country, no matter HOW fast you're driving on motorway, there's ALWAYS someone overtaking you at light speed. Those used to be BMWs, Audis and often white vans, rushing to their plumbing or construction emergencies. But for past few years the most common lunatics on the roads here have been driving Skoda Kodiaqs. Kodiaq drivers seem to have a constant urgency to rush home to clear their browser history.

Had one for almost 5 years. Sportline TDI, 4x4. DSG died twice at 43k and at 61 k km. Front lights had a factory error. Skoda didn't want to fix it. Drivers seat, leather burst, it was full of rattles, paint job was just bad. It consumed cooling liquid. Far the worst car I ever had. For 50k. You just can't compare it to the premium brands. Materials are bad, fitting is bad, and service is shit.

We just bought an immaculate 2015 Octavia elegance wagon for our daughter ,1 owner full service history and 200,000 kays and it is incredible. I used to think Skoda's were blah but when doing research for her car I kept reading comments from so many owners who loved their Skoda's and how reliable they'd been.. Other thing was the safety and amount of car we got compared to insane prices people wanted for ten year old Hyundai's etc that had no features and bugger all safety where the Skoda has radar cruise , beautiful leather heated seats front and rear, auto wipers, camera, auto park assist etc.. I found the contact of the original owner and called him and he said it never missed a beat in the 200k kays he had it and he only traded it as he entered retirement and wanted a new car to see him out. Safe to say my wife and I see Skoda's in a whole light..

I used to own one of these. The 140 TDI. I got totally rinsed with the depreciation when I sold it, but that was to be expected. The diesel drove as smooth as silk and was very punchy around town. I certainly didnt experience the 1st gear acceleration issues Adam mentions. I only kept it for around 30k, so I didnt run into of the any typical VW reliability gremlins before I sold it.

Mine is crap. I am selling it after 14 months, engine problems all the time, it is a 2L TDI (cooling system leaking, water pump problem, distribution belt needs replacement before the car has 90k km, battery needs to be replaced etc. Got some pretty high repair cost bills and some parts parts need to be repaired. The car is from 2018. I am buying now a new Honda CR-V. No VW more for me. I had different car brands new or used but never had as many problems in a year like I did with the Kodiaq.

typically euro car buyers are either 1. idiots who lease or keep adding more and more negative equity and toss them after the lease period then repeat 2. Badge lovers who purchase one, turns out its a lemon and convert to Japanese Only reason euro cars sell is because the majority of them are leased (60% of MB new vehicle 'sales' are leased) and they make profit off the hidden high interest of leasing. And because the majority market share are lessors who dont require long term reliability they are motivated to continue making shiny-on-the-surface vehicles made out of plastics.

Here in Europe these are popular with caravanners particularly the diesels with the DSG gearboxes Ironically the DSGs hate towing things and end up wearing out the transmissions before they need to be replaced, people treat them like Automatics when really they are just automated manual transmissions without a torque converter, I have rebuild several of these DSG gearboxes on Kodiaq's and Octavia's and they were from cars that were used for towing Caravans or boats, don't buy and VAG car with a DSG if you want to tow anything above 600kgs you will pay dear for it. Buy the 6 speed Manual its a tough unit and will never go bang. They re also very dirty transmissions servicing them stinks and the fluid used in them once it gets on your clothes and skin can linger for days, I absolutely hate them, German engineering is only great when its new and working .

Skodas are just Volkswagens that failed quality control, you’ll meet a lot of nice tow truck drivers (god knows I did). The interior is a nice place to be while waiting for tow trucks though, apparently later model Skodas have 2 additional drive modes have been added 1. Up on the hoist at the mechanics 2. Trudging up the steps to Vcat (I’ve been there with mine). Dealer customer service is terrible and most Volkswagen/Audi dealers won’t touch them and as Skoda dealers are far and few between you’ll be driving long distances to get to one. @@wyatthurts1729 Now anything European is crap back in 2004 we bought a brand new Ford Fiesta and it was the biggest pile of crap we bought that really turned me off European vehicles now four years ago l bought a 1997 Toyota Hilux for aud $1500 and its very good reliable has 435000 kilometres on it and it runs great as for the crappy Ford Fiesta we only did 170000 kilometres and we had to scrap it compare that to my 1997 Toyota yes Toyota Hilux it's 27 years old yes 27 years old with 435000 kilometres on it and it guess what when they come up for sale they easily sell for aud $5000 to $6000 and they have to be a single cab chassis aluminium tray manual with the absolute bullet proof 22R engine in it manual and air-conditioning which my Hilux has and they sell with in a day obviously with less kilometres they are worth more and about reliability l have seen a 1997 Toyota Hilux sell with 980000 kilometres on it and the seller had no trouble selling it because of that very famous 22R engine under the bonnet and l bought my Hilux 4 years ago l never realised what a magnificent piece of engineering it was l wow this one's a keeper reliable an its appropriated a win win situation its the first vehicle l have ever bought in my 50 years of driving that is one of the best vehicles l have ever bought so you stick your unreliable expensive European cars remember reliability is a luxury so my Hilux must be one of the most luxurious cars out no it's not the Toyota Century is that's another story but Hilux means High Luxury l say is it or isn't it after its reliable has a full size spare wheel a definitely luxury today are there any European cars that come with a full size spare tyre some of them don't have a spare tyre just a tube of glue now they are not luxurious

@@makaw2006 show me a stelvio or f pace that is anywhere near the price of a Kodiaq. You'd be comparing a new Skoda to a 4 year old Alfa or Jag that would have way more mechanical and electrical issues than any VAG product. FWIW the Stelvio looked like a 10yo design 5 minutes after launch, and the Jag is all design, no engineering. You're comparing apples with oranges.
