Great video! I had purchased a 7 string guitar 20 years ago and nevered really played it. I always reverted to my 6 string. Now I have taken it out again and began experimenting with chords like yourself . I also realized that some interesting bass run work very well! Rgds, Denis

Really well done. I'm lately learning 7th chords and other jazzy chords on my 7-string and there's really not much out there. The way you explain things and even the order you explain it in is exactly how I've been working on learning this stuff so this is a good reference and lets me check things like drop-2/3 7th chord shapes starting on the 7th string, and inversions, against what someone else is doing - I haven't really found anyone else talking about this.
@Remnantsofadam Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m glad you found it useful! I’m still continuing to learn shapes and new ways to think of chords on the 7 string and also trying to apply it to the 8 string. I probably need to make an updated version of this video soon!

Martijn Emmen No problem! I’ll have to check out some other ways to get more chords out of drop A. Drop A just lends itself so much to power chords that it’s hard to get anything else. I love doing the inverted triads in drop tunings though!

"Drop A doesn't add anything new to your chord vocabulary". -- paraphrase You know... after watching most of this video, I just might keep my Schecter in B-Standard when I get it back from the luthier. [edit] The only problem is that I feel that there is more fingerstyle tunes that I can play because of the A-string chord vocabulary.
