It was only 1752-54 when peshwas instated their 1st puppet chatrapati (who was actually officially adopted n nominated by shahuji while he was alive.) Peshwas (nanasaheb to be precise 3rd of bhat peshwa ) could exert their power over throne, only cuz of internal feud occuring post shahuji chatrapati . Well presented , appreciate the effort to pronounce names properly. Kindly consider couple of points when updating the version : a) True India was a collection of kingdoms, but unlike Europe the kingdoms were bound by common civilisational ethos based on sanatana dharma. Hence any internecine wars wete more a territorial issue for kings and hence common people and their life were largely unaffected . b) Pluralism had never worried hindus, but the Islam's assault and forced conversion was not accepted. Marathas definitely stood for hindus and their culture , but as unique people in the world the hindu marathas like the hindu Vijayanagar before them , never oppressed or differentiated their subjects on religious grounds nor inflicted genocide on the enemy's people that the Islam and European colonial armies used to do C) it is not correct to term Mughals as tolerant to hindus. It is just the extent of resistance they faced that made them compromise and do with subtle aggression like jezia tax , buying out some enemies, fostering marriage based alliance etc. Ofcourse Aurangazeb carried out unabashed atrocity on hindus.

The Indian monarchical titles were not done away with in 1947. They were abolished under PM Indira Ghandi. From 1947 the titles and honours (like the 21 gunshot salute) remained until then, but in 1947 the power of these monarchs was mostly done away with. There were a few exeptions. But not anymore.

Technically, Madhavrao Scindia's mother is from a Nepali noble house, but not the royal house. The Rana dynasty were hereditary Prime Ministers during the Nepali monarchy era. The royal house was the Shah dynasty.

UsefulCharts, I think you should also make a video on 'Ahom Dynasty' who ruled Assam (an Indian state) for continuous 598 years as independent and another 5 years as a princely state under British Raj and defeated Mughal empire 17 times despite being small in number of military. The founder and first king 'Sukapha' and the General 'Lachit Borphukan' who defeated Mughals are highly regarded in the state of Assam and now in India as well. So Usefulcharts you should have a look on this impressive dynasty. (28/8/22 3:07pm)

Next could you maybe do a family tree of Irish High Kings? It would be a tough one to do as the high kings would come from many different houses (clans). Its also tough to know when the Irish monarchy started so it would be easiest to big somewhere like 6th century or 8th century or whatever.
@mcfcfan18704 жыл бұрын
Just to add.... Ireland WAS a single nation back then contrary to one of your previous vidoes, there was a single high king, a single language, culture and religion, A single law, And the Irish identity in Ireland back then. Only thing is the system was very strange and unique to otehr counties. Simply explained.... At the top of the pyramid was the "Brehon Law". The laws of Ireland. No-one could change the laws and they were in place for hundreds and hundreds of years. Then was the High King, he had little to no proven power but nonethless was the most powerful person. Then was the four petty kings who ruled their small regions under the high kings, there was occasionally infighting between these kings and the high king was also one of these four regional kings. Then there was the cheiftans of the clans, there were many clans with the petty king of the region being part of the most powerful clan in his region. These clans often infought with each other to become more powerful. It was a very strange amd complicated system so I wouldn't expect that in the possible video at all but its just to explain.

As far as the family tree of the Bhosle dynasty is concerned, the video is absolutely correct when speaking of the process of adoption. There is a litany of situations where uncles adopt their nephews, ie their sister's son. This would also bring prominence to the family that the sister was married into. Some were even descendants of Shivaji's granduncle. There is a palace called the New Palace in Kolhapur where the Bhosle family still lives but the entire ground floor has been converted into a museum. There one can see the family tree in its entirety. It is so long and convoluted that it will make your head spin!

many interpretations prejudiced. (Some facts are wrong too) Eg. 5:49 u say "shahu maharaj became puppet of peshwas." No!!!! until he was alive 1749, peshwas were never superseding chatra-pati. Thanks to tara rani (who was not reigning queen at the feud time 1749-54 neither of kolhapur nor satara)

A suggestion, if I may. Do not do a video on Solar and Lunar dynasties for the reason that most probably you will get it wrong for there are more than 100 versions of it. I will suggest that you first try to understand the cultural differences and understand that History in India is not understood and applied as is understood by Western development and hence 'History' is different from 'Itihasa' (the preferred translation), however in exactitude the better word would be 'Bhoot' which translates as 'Past' since the concepts are entirely different. Marathas are fine, being nearer in History, but since even Indians are unsure of the right version of the claimed Solar and Lunar dynasties you certainly won't be able to figure it out and hence i would suggest you to not pursue it.

I will mostly be looking at the family tree of the characters from the Mahabharata and Ramayana, not trying to build a complete historical tree. In these videos, I just explain the family tree rather than do historical analysis.

@@UsefulCharts Thank you for clearing that up. It should be relatively easier for the lineage of Major characters of these texts are mentioned in the texts themselves as opposed to the mammoth task which I thought you were to undertake. However, there is another catch. The dates that are proposed for the events of these texts are under contention and rightly so and therefore you will have to navigate around that problem or use a disclaimer. I wish you good luck. And good job with this video. Thank You.

Very nicely elaborated. Not much is known about Shahaji (Ch. Shivaji's father) except that he was a Sardar in Malik Ambar's Court. Will look forward to the Solar (Suryavansh) & Lunar (Chandravansh) blood lines to test how various literatures portray them. The Peshwas expanded the Maratha empire for nearly 100 years however very little info is published (except a few good books) so will welcome anything on this front too.

Great video. Do you have the sources referenced where the Bhosale Dynasty claimed to have descended from the Sisodia Rajput Dynasty? Also, the term Hindu nationalist has a very negative connotation in India and is used by the left to perpetuate falsehoods about Hindus. Probably best to leave it out in any future videos relating to India.

It is true that Deccan is know for its cross-religion diversity. I'm a Maratha, clan-Jadhavrao/Jadhavrav from Western Maharashtra, My maternal Grandmother is from the Suryavanshi Clan from Wai, Maharashtra, it was a ritual in their family to pay homage to Sufi Shrines. Family Havelis (Wada, like Shanivar Wada in Pune(Kokansatha/Chitpavan) ) have long been abandoned but the spirit still continues till this day!

There is a bit of inaccuracy. Early and later mughal rule was pretty brutal, only Akbar, jahangir and shah jahan to some extent were considered somewhat tolerant, further the earlier Islamic sultante was along with nearly all of early islamic invasions were quite horrific as well. Some say it was the bloodiest of invasions.

Maratha Empire was founded by great shri Chhatrapati shivaji maharaj from the scratch. Then kept on expanding for next 150 years and spread all over India. The unique feature of this Empire was unlike other Indian Empires it was not run by any unique family. Those who had the capability to prove got good opportunities to hold different positions in this Empire. Hence there are a number of big names from different clans from Maharashtra those appear in the Marathas history. Shinde s ( schindhia s ) , holkars , gaykawads , Pawar's from Maharashtra s heart land got good opportunities under the leadership of peshwas and they were assigned separate territories in the north india, Bhosale s in East - nagpur . Nagpurkar Bhosale s had their territories extended up bengal and oddisha. Rani laxmi bai was from the tambe Maharashtrian royal family from banaras and was married to the Maratha king of Jhansi. In short there are a number of big names in maratha history who are not directly connected to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj family.

Propaganda is spread this way. They use little terms or comments like Shivaji lied abt being Suryavanshi. Or like Mughals didn’t despise Hindus n killed millions. They make videos not to entertain or to earn money. A Nexus is behind all these. . . They won’t say it took Marathas to take back India from Mughals in 23 yrs when the Islamic rulers took 600 yrs to accomplish what they did at the height of Aurangzeb reign and that too it was never united. There were fight and skirmish happening everywhere. Like in kings of Kashmir or Ahoms of Assam. And they begin with the wrong Indian map. And u see not one person has objected in the comment section! This is how distorted map of India is normalised.
