People are attempting to "cash-in" on the old car craze, and there are few traditional "junkyards" left. The junkyards have been replaced by "auto recyclers" or "replacement parts" outfits that only keep late model stuff for a limited time before scrapping the remains. Because of this, any clapped-out POS car is now worth big bucks, or so they think. I am guilty of hoarding a few bodies for parts or future projects, but code enforcement is another problem, even in my rural Georgia area. It's a struggle!

its really a combination of what we talk about in the video + what you just mentioned. ohh god, i dont know how hard code enforcement in Ga is but we have ways around them up here. the easiest way up here is to cover it up. once there is a cover on them, they cant legally prove its a car under the cover and they are not allowed to come on your property to lift the cover up and see... if they did, i would sculpt a car shape out of dirt and cover it up to play games LOL.

Enjoyed all 1hr plus of the conversation and agree 100%. Have you noticed old 40's to early 60's trucks are also getting crazy? Now the square body rust buckets are going the same way. 😢

man, square bodies are getting nuts. its almost as if people just want basic vehicles. glad you enjoyed the show. there will be more with different topics in the future.

Excellent video guys. Agree with all you r points. Also Barrett Jackson is where rich guys put $150k in a Kindigit custom cars, or their rotisserie restored cars and dump them for 80-100k.

😂😂😂😂 Boy you guys have hit home with this topic!!! I live in northeast PA , and I don't understand how anyone can think they have a " pile " of "gold" without a title. If you don't have a title, then IT'S A PARTS CAR 😂😂. Then, if it does have a title, it's automatically 2k more!! My favorite is "have a clean title in previous owners name" and then you find out they passed away 20 years ago 😂!! Best of luck with the continuous hunt 👍 Great video 🎉

19:55 I saw an immaculate pair of chrome bumpers, front and rear, on top of a county scrap metal dumpster last summer. They looked like they had either been rechromed or had always been garage kept. They weren't dirty or rusty or anything. And our county places are just drop off spots for household recycling, so whoever tossed them didn't even get the scrap value. I had no way of hauling them, I couldn't tell what they went to, and they have cameras and a full time worker there to keep people from pulling stuff out.

So, a couple of years ago, I bought a 1980 Pinto, floors rotted out, motor full of water, no trans, and rusty quarters. 400 bucks. I yanked the motor, and dropped in a 351C 2V, 3speed, just for shits & giggles. Some guy saw it, 👀 and whipped out 2k on the spot wanting it😂😂. So there's people out there that are just dumping $$ for junk. I wasn't even trying to sell it. Back in 2001, I completed a frame off restoration of a '68 Malibu. All original, 327/300hp. 4 barrel, Power glide, buckets, console, 10 bolt posi. AM/FM stereo with 8- track , tinted glass, and a very rare, but annoying option: I think it was called a "safety package"??? So, 1968 headrests were an option; it had that, and a little red light with the most annoying buzzer on the speedometer at 55mph. So if you did 56mph, it would light up, and BUUUUUZZZZZ😂. It also had little indicator lights on the fenders to let you know if a head light, or turn signal/marker light was out. When you looked into the rear view mirror, up in the center of the molding around the back window, were 2 little red "dots" to let you know if a tail light was out. It also had the extra "light" group, courtesy lights under the dash, back of the console, under the hood and trunk. Anyway, I struggled to get 5k for the car when it was done 😮!! Just because it wasn't an SS!!

One of the biggest problems I have seen are the flippers. About a month ago I saw a 1974 Cuda in nice shape for $5000 grand Canadian! It took two hours and it was sold and advertised the next day for $25.000! The deals are out there but there are people that strictly watch Marketplace to buy deals and flip them.

There is another problem I didn't really think of. These mofos are in it strictly for the money, then they make all these dipshittery TV shows about it too.

Finally found time to watch this one, lol. All of the second gen Camaro/Firebird parts cars have recently dried up around me. I know one guy with a hoard of nearly 60 Trans Ams. The third gens are still around but the prices are creeping up. My personal favorite is "No Title but they are easy to get". Then GO GET ONE and make your car worth the damn price.

Can't wait to watch this later, for I'm at work. Came to see the comments! But I already know where it's going 😂. It seems at every car show you'll see actual real live "Street Rods". 3 window coupes, highboys, shit like that.. You ever pay attention to the people that have those? They're usually the elderly. Sitting in fold out chairs holding fly swatters. Thing is.. Those cars tend to disappear into obscurity more often than not. Now you see 'em in your hometown, now one day you DON'T.. (ever ever again) Think about all the really cool shit that may be lurking in any unassuming garage in your neighborhood. (forget about the rusty ass "rare" '85 Monte Carlo SS for a moment) Hey man, you never know. Sometimes it's worth it to help that little old lady up the street.

i have noticed over the years, all the old cars from the 50s and early 60s like the impalas have disappeared at car shows. back in the 90s, they were all over and the owners were typically in their 40s and 50s back then. ill catch you again after you watch the video!!!

Also forgot to mention, within the last year (2023) I have found 3, 1972 Cutlass' in my local junkyards. I was able to get every bolt and front end I desperately needed for mine. It's absolutely nuts people will scrap them now.

@@UsefulEntertainment That's what I think happened to a Lincoln Zephyr that was sitting in a Colorado field for 40+ years. I saw the Craigslist listing for it at something like $5,500 firm. That listing expired, the owner relisted it at the same firm price, and then few months later I saw it in a Denver junkyard. I'll guarantee you that that predominantly late model junkyard didn't pay anywhere near what he was asking. Some of the glass was broken, the interior was shot, and it had no title.

It's crazy and sad that people are settling for notoriously bad 70s and 80s shitboxes since nothing is either available or even worth buying. I'm very thankful for the fact I'm 22 with an 86 Trans Am and a 08 G6 coupe for the winter.

We can all thank Hagerty, Hemmings, and TV shows for this problem as well. They're famous for pushing the "great investment" narrative, which is why rotted out square body Chevys start at $2K, where i used to buy them running and driving for $500. The good thing is that I'm starting to see $500 cars again on marketplace because the scrap prices have dropped.
