Howard had a really nasty habit of "moving the goal post" to suit his narrative, to make him appear right, every time someone was making a good case about anything he would argue about. It was especially easy to do it with Gary because he knew Gary would eventually back off, so as not to rock their boat. Gary knew his place on that show.
