@@magicsmurfy hahaa funny; world friends heard this? HK and new China do not need world friends any more? I do not understand this! I heard that China town old HKers said: HK 1841-1997 Salute to Queen and King Charles

@@magicsmurfy no no no, I think you were told by some bad boys about all these imagination things. Jacky Chan may be happy that you live in this country or so as Jack Chan had said that people living in this type of country must be tightly controlled and taught to officers' satisfaction. I am ok with that.

@@magicsmurfy wow, do not use violent mindset all the time even if it is party special tactics as they are primitive and outdated in today's modern world. be kind to others and Gods and UFO will be kind to you. it is the Great new China premier zhou that stopped the UK govt. from giving the colony democracy. it is released a few years ago from the UK govt. archive. Go and check it out. do not just believe all your officers' words. I agree you MUST follow but no need to believe it all. Be clever boy!
Born in Hong Kong, I left Hong Kong in 1973 for college in the United States. This video brings back a lot of memories, especially the markets, the Aberdeen fishing boats and the old Tai Pak seafood boat restaurant. Yes, I miss the Aberdeen and Ap Lei Chau ......

I was 8 and left HK in 1973 for America. Every time I visit HK I feel safe, unlike America where crimes have been surging in the last 2 years. It's too bad Jumbo floating restaurant is no longer there. This is the year Bruce Lee died as well. I didn't know who he was at that time and I remember my brother was holding a movie ticket for "Return of the Dragon." He was quite a sensation back then. The thing I remember the most is the traffic cops. There are way more people now than in 1973. I remember watching Shek Kien and Patrick Tse in black and white movies. I love milk tea and wonton noodles and I can never get enough of. I will surely visit HK a few more times before China takes over completely. I can only hope HK stays vibrant. I love the nightlife. I can always get great food in the middle of the night or go to a department store to shop.

People of Hong Kong are some of the most resilient and hardworking anywhere in the world in that era. Always self-reliant and never complain how hard the lives may be. I was a teenager that failed school countless times by 1973. I had the worst and dangerous job one could imagine but worked hard with self-taught skills, and appreciated by my manager. I was fortunate to be streetwise to not mix up with street gangs, but knew some good gangsters. I seized on an unlikely opportunity to leave for Canada with a tourist visa in 1975. I obtained an Western advanced education as a late starter and became a technical professional, and now living comfortably in USA, but I never forget how I rose from the mud there. So much fond bittersweet vivid memories I have. I would return many times in recent decades, but sadly today it has lost much of its former lusters.

I was 9-year-old in 1973. As a girl from Kowloon, my parents very rarely took us to Hong Kong. When they did, it was a real big deal for the entire family. We all dressed up nicely. My mom would constantly remind us to behave ourselves because people in Hong Kong have a higher standard. I didn't know how true it was but her words have stuck in my head for many decades to come.
