Typically side characters carry adventure/ comedy movies on their backs. If you’re looking for movies where they invest all the character development into the main, watch horror, romance, or mystery movies, where side characters are typically one-dimensional or slightly watered down, while the main characters have much more interesting and deep personalities

All of my favorite Disney characters when I was a little girl were unintentionally strong women of color. Audrey, Kida, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Esmeralda were always my favorite. I didn't realize it back then when I was a little, but one of the reasons why I loved them so much was because they looked like me! Representation and strong female characters that don't need a prince are important!

Weird, because I'm a white male and my favorite characters were Mulan, Aladdin, Hercules, and Cuzco, only one of which looked anything like me. Interesting that I had an easier time relating to characters based on who they were as people rather than what they looked like... and didn't seem to gravitate to characters who shared shallow physical traits with me. It's almost like that's the non-narcissistic way to view stories or something...

They shine best when the writing doesn't center around them being strong women of color.

@@SefniAsheforr What part of unintentional and did not need a prince do you not get? There is representation for you everywhere so you wouldn't get it 🙄

@@joeo2533 I agree, I do not like pandering.

@@phrohibited Yet, I didn't gravitate towards those characters that "represent me" did I? Maybe it's because I don't feel represented as a person just because someone looks like me. Does Ann Coulter represent you and your ideas just because she has woman parts?

This movie is so beautifully animated. As a kid, we had the DVD, but for some reason, I never liked the idea of watching it. I probably watched it once when I was too young to understand any of it and decided never again. A few days ago, I dreamt about this movie (that, or Treasure Planet, a movie i similarly never wanted to watch), and today it showed up on my recommended list. Honestly blown away. The sheer amount of detail put into the animation, especially the fluid mannerisms and facial expressions, is motivation enough for me to finally sit down and watch it
