Is there a way to TRY using WP without signing up at first? I have done easy websites with Weebly but would like to use WP in the future. Just have to get two sites up there asap and don't have time to figure out all the intricacies. The try-out version should be able to be used with the real version when you do decide to sign up, hopefully.

sir, what if the e-commerce site is built using scratch like amazon , wouldn't it be a greater platform than shopify or wix ..
@Craylor5 жыл бұрын
Theoretically it could be better! I would just make sure the platform made from scratch has been well designed and thought out. Shopify and Wix have spent years refining their e-commerce experiences, and it takes a lot to build a store experience from scratch. Amazon spent many years perfecting it.

Great heads-up on who shouldn't use Wordpress. I'm curious to know, when you showed the Word Fence screen grab, you were taking about compromised plug-ins. Was Word Fence compromised at some point or was that a subliminal suggestion for a good security plug-in.
@Craylor4 жыл бұрын
That was a suggestion for a good security plugin! WordFence is a great free security plugin that has saved me more than once and protected my WordPress sites. The WordFence research team actually discovered a compromised plugin, and it was one my site happened to be using. I had a scary issue where someone was generating admin accounts to access my WordPress site and could do anything they wanted to modify it. I Googled it, and WordFence had a blog post about the issue. I removed the compromised plugin, and because I take nightly backups, I suffered no long term issues.
@MediaMixChris4 жыл бұрын
After noticing that my hosting was reporting a high amount of "usage", I installed WordFence, which stopped a stupid amount of hacker traffic that was trying to infiltrate my server. It has been a must-have for every site I've built since then. It's always fun to see the IP addresses that get blocked every day. Keep up the great videos!

It's totally personal preference! If you want ultimate flexibility and you are tech savvy, I would recommend WordPress. If you want to customize a lot of things but you aren't as tech savvy, Wix is more expensive but simpler to use.

I'm not sure that "non open source" is better. Open source can be seen as a huge advantage by many. The website builder you prefer is personal preference, but in my view, open source vs non open source is irrelevant unless you want open source for a specific reason.

You can actually set up an entire WordPress website on your iPad! I recommend using Safari for everything, but you can also download the WordPress app and connect your site to it once you've done the initial setup. Creating a WordPress website on an iPad exclusively is definitely not ideal, but it can be done.

Can WordPress site be hacked if there is only info on it?
@Craylor4 жыл бұрын
Yes. Just by a WordPress site being live on the internet, it can be hacked. The motive for hackers is not usually to "hijack" your website and change the info (i.e. targeting a large corporation to screw with their site) - the motive is usually for hackers to breach the site so they can install PHP scripts that send spam mail from your web hosting account, or host a hidden page on your web hosting that's one of those scammy "windows tech support" pages people get to. Hackers can and do leverage other people's web hosting accounts for this type of stuff so you get in trouble and get your account banned instead of them. WordPress is a common back door to do this.
