@@userwl2850 Bored?? Hell No! Not a chance. My late Mum's side of the family were tool makers and shop engineers here in Melbourne, Australia. My Great, Great, Grandfather started W.G. Goetz and Sons here in Melbourne in 1875. My Grandfather worked for the company until his retirement in the late '70's. The company finally folded after funny money dealings by the then owner in the mid 2000's. The business had the reputation for quality and if you did your time with them and went elsewhere for work as soon as you said you did your time with W.G. Goetz, the next question was "How soon can you start." They used to make sheet metal machines and that included some of the giant presses used in the various Automotive Plants here in Australia.

love it. { had to make keyways in 300mm dia x 3 meters long on a 2A mill. The method was to mill as long as I could on bed feed about 10 foot of bar held by engine hoist one end with wide strap ~ work held in a vice: every 500mm lowered vice & hoist moved bar through vice tightened vice with machine levels on top of keyway and bottom of the keyway. then plunged smaller slot to depth then diameter. At first, I doubted this as precision cogs and gears 1-meter diameter went on key or keys on different shafts I did this method. You start slow but then you speed up really quickly as you get used to it. ~ What you have done here is sort of similar but it takes absolute confidence in yourself and skill level at the highest to achieve your work.
