My old man was a carpenter, a real top notch engineer. I only recently became friends with a neighbour who is 85 and a boat builder since he was 15. the knowledge I’m learning is unreal. Some of the best people I know are woodworkers. These videos are worth keeping.

I think we all needed some sort of diversionary tactics in the early stages, mine was filming, yours was watching. What a stupendous combination Anthony. Hope you are coping OK (ish) now. Cheers Steve

I only own 4 planes made later than 1664. I love the wood body planes and the wonderful feel of the molding planes. But everyone needs at least one block plane and flush plane.

Hi Theophilus, I agree a Block Plane is a must and a good smoothing plane is also very nice to have. Thanks for dropping in on the stream today. Cheers Steve

Good sign if you can cut end grain without struggling, super sharp, easier to control than a full bench plane.
@Woodworkingmasterclass4 жыл бұрын
Agreed John. It's the little things that make the biggest differences. And sharp in on the top of the list. Appreciate your comment. Cheers Steve

Hey Steve (and any Woodworking Masterclass fans) what is the name (common and/or brand) of the tool I see Japanese carpenters using to cut half-blind dovetails? It shaped sort of like a putty knife. They seem to be wedging it along the cut lines to get a clean edge before removing the waste.

Another great video Steve thank you for the tips and your time .I would like to see how you make that miter joint on the box you planed.
@Woodworkingmasterclass4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, You're , welcome and I'm pleased you are enjoying the videos and getting something from them. The box on the video is a specialized Box I make for a specific purpose.That is was done on a table saw with a mitered blade and fitted with splines. The keyways for the splines are done on the same saw with a change in depth of cut and a change in fence position. I think 2 blades were used, a normal rip blade and a Dado Blade. Cheers Steve
