I was in New Orleans at the Essence Festival the night Usher performed this song along with an amazing version of "A House Is Not A Home". Both performances were a part of a get-well tribute to Luther just before he passed. Ush was in rare form that night! Absolutely outstanding!
@darrylcoates19562 жыл бұрын
I was there too. It was recorded and supposed to be aired but never was. Luther was originally scheduled to perform.

I am impressed. I have gained new respect for Usher. He has actually done a fitting tribute to the great Luther Vandross by singing this beautiful song in the same style as Luther, and did it well! Luther Vandross would be proud!
@tedkay14 жыл бұрын
It's not ushers singing, it's that big bad luther vandross musicianship that's playing behind him! the public is hungry for that stuff!! Skilled musicians! Nice!~

Only Luther can be Luther. and this is a very good version.. I think Usher is one of today's great performance, and I give him credit for really expanding his boundaries. And when he get's into serious dance, no one can touch him..

This is a great interpretation. Of course, Usher's vocals will never measure up to Vandross, but this is a great tribute. BIg shout out to the Bass Player/Musical Director: Ricky Minor for keeping the musical vibe authentic!

I was cool seeing Usher singing to an older audience, dancing the old school dance... He is talented... We can't expect too much more, cause fact is that Luther was something else, he was not average... Nobody will ever do like him... But I'm glad to see Usher like that, cause I'm looking for him to do something more grown up for years... he could make a brilliant carrer with more consistent songs, just like that. Kisses from JulyN

Luther approves!!! Excellent job Usher! Im so proud of the sensational performer youve become. Your dedication to your craft shows and your charisma & confidence is intoxicating! Takes me back to when you debuted with Just call me a mac. I was a senior in HS and I told everyone Im taking Usher to the prom! I was determined to meet you & ask you (and drag you if need be. Lol) Dang, that was dumb!

those are usher songs. usher has the #1 falsetto in the game. I was talking about chris brown who i've never heard sing a falsetto in my life. I think my last post didn't get placed under the other person's post to whom i was replying. Usher's albums are laced with beautiful falsetto, he's a great vocalist. Hasn't won multiple grammy's for vocal performances for nothing, let alone be nominated countless other times, included for the upcoming awards for his song 'here i stand'

I did not read not one comment of somebody saying he sounds or trying to sound better than Luther but the ones making the dumb comments. It's a tribute to him and he did the song Justice he did not sound bad at all he was sing with the voice GOD gave him and the crowd thought it was great ass well. So come on people stop putting dumb remarks out there cause one thing I do know Usher can out sing yall slow a****. Nuff Said

This is one of my all time favorite tunes and i have to say i really enjoyed ushers version- i thought he did it justice. As for the original- they always remain original but its all about variety and sometimes it works and sometimes not- this time it definately did - Respect. RIP the one and only luther vandross- what a voice!!!

@kiriakoz actually usher is not just noted for his looks and for u to imply that is kind of i don't suspect? He is a well rounded entertainer (well except in acting, not his strong suit) but he is a philanthropist an artist, a great dancer and who cares if he doesn't write his own music most artists don't including Luther. Thats why they have "songwriters" if everyone wrote their own music they wouldn't have a job. I love music and entertainment I could care less what they looked like
