I use a 48 inch OLED too. Fiiirst, you need a 80 cm (31 inch) desk for a 48" or a 60 cm (23 inch) desk for a 42". Second, you need a monitor with the lowest possible feet, idealy one with two small feet. Third, you need to remove that shelf, the eyestrain would come from the monitor being too tall, so you want it as low as possible.

Putting a 50" TV on my desk was my first foray into super-sized displays. I got used to using things in windowed mode with a nice background, almost like having a working document hovering over a window. When I needed to multi-task on Windows it was great to snap up to 4 windows into the corners and have the equivalent of 4, 24" monitors. The eye strain was an issue because we're basically looking into a floodlight that is filling our field of view. Putting some distance, getting natural light into the room, and using Night mode colors or something like fLux helps a lot. I personally use sunset colors with a beach sunset background and never have eye strain anymore.

I'm using a 48" LG C1 for exactly 1 year now, I was planning to use FancyZones to split it into multiple "virtual screens", but soon realized that this means that I can't use fullscreen mode in any app anymore to still see other stuff next to it. Now I'm using it exactly as I used my single 27" before, single apps in a maximized windows or stuff like KZbin and Games in fullscreen. I really want to try multi monitors instead next because I just can't change my habits, I can't stand window borders when playing in zones, or even worse watching videos with the KZbin UI around it.

Lots of monitors are now supporting PBP, effectively tricking your computer it is connected to 3 or 4 monitors when in fact it is being tessellated into one screen. This can help for things not running in full screen in quadrants of the monitor. Most TVs don't support it, unfortunately.

I have the 42" C2 and the GQ900 and one on an Arm (heavy duty 50 bucks off Amazon - NB bayou) The arm actually supports its fairly well! But I agree here with you. I bought a 49" G9 and ended up returning it because it's height of a 27" is just not enough. Looks small...especially gaming. This 42" and 48" I have now... I am more than happy. OLED I should mention spoils your eyes. Once you get one all LCD become useless lol

When my old monitor died, I hooked up my 40" TV to my PC and now use that, instead. My experience matches yours in that it takes getting used to, and you will find yourself wanting some distance from the screen. That said, I am now used to having an "oversized monitor," and I do not think I can ever go back to an "itty-bitty screen." Were I to replace my current setup, I would probably go with a 48-inch monitor.

If the screen puts that much strain on your eyes, it's just way too bright... keep in mind that manufacturers assume a certain distance, if you get closer to what the pixel density of today's screens allows, then you should reduce the brightness and saturation a bit I did the same for myself and I'm sitting here in front of 5 monitors, 1x40" and 4x 32" and you notice very quickly when it's too bright

48" 16::9 is like having 4x 24" monitors. I have been using mostly 3, 4 and 6 monitors for 20 years in various 3x1 or 3x2 (3 over 3) setups. Right now I'm running 1x49 32:9 over 2x24" 16:9 and going to a single 48" 16:9 seems like a fairly good setup. I regularly need 2-3 monitors and 2x24" monitors are too small physically when you look at the amount of time I spend zooming in and out or leaning in.... There are a lot of window arrangements what would benefit from a 48" (effectively 2 over 2 24" monitors), i.e. 21:9 sized window on top with 2 'wings' to put references and/or 2x16"9 on the bottom.

I've landed on 2 x 32" 4K for max productivity. I went from 3 x 24" 1080P to 1 x 40" 4K many years ago and loved it. Tried 50" and 43" 4K and they are usable but 40" was better for a single monitor setup. I think 38" 4K monitors are starting to show up now, which should also be good for a single monitor setup. 48" is OK but not very sharp when you are acclimated to 32" 4K. 28" 4K is a low as you should go though. It is usable but not as comfortable to my eyes at native resolution with no scaling.

Im currently using a 49 inch samsung odessey ultrawide monitor my viewing distance is 136cm due to which i find to use the editing apps properly as it crunches down everything because im using the monitor at 175% SCALING and i cant put it on my desk since it creates an obstruction for my speakers which i need to avoid in every case since i make music also for films and tv. So will this monitor be enough with my viewing distance without having to increase the screen scaling? Or should i go more bigger like a 55inch?

I have a Samsung G9 right now and have been contemplating the switch to a 48" OLED as well. One major concern I can't seem to get over is the fact that it's such a tall monitor, so it puts the camera angled way down for Zoom calls and is a weird perspective. Great video! I have the Kanto Tuks as well and the 48" monitor would def fit better with those on the desk!

I do not see and have no need to go above 32in 4k, maybe go with a 32in 144Hz 4k in the future and if gpu prices get reasonable, I can spare some money and get a xx70 or xx80 series nVidia or Amd equivalent card.

I just can see max 4 - 5 Timelines (including audio). This is not practicable and davinci dont let you rearrange the layout. Im playing alot of cs:go... Im excited to see how this works 😄 i like big screens ✌🏽😄 (34" that i owned before the suw was way to small) What screensaver are you using? It looks great 👌🏽 Thanks for your video. Thumbs up 👍🏽👍🏽🙂

Text is a problem on many tv screens. Not because of pixel size or distance or whatever, but because many tv's still are 4:2:0. If this does not mean anything to you, look up chroma subsampling. It is YCbCr, Y is luma and CB and CR are the blue-difference and red-difference. This is different from a pc that just sends full 4:4:4 RGB. Less data sent, less data processed by the image processor in the tv (cheaper component possible). Look at the tv you consider and look if it can process full 4:4:4 RGB input at the desired Hz (some tv will advertise 120Hz, then only in 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 or something with full RGB only at 50/60Hz). You may find other subsampling modes and if you must find a budget option, I'd suggest going no lower than 4:4:2 for text, 4:2:2 otherwise. There are other less used options (4:1:1, 4:2:1 for example) but skip those by default. Or not, but I found out the hard way. There are test images you can find online, this is how I saw my Samsung refused to properly process 4:4:4 and it showed 4:4:2.

I've looked into these a bit, as I've no interest in TV's, I consume all my content and entertainment on PC or Mobile. Any MiniLED options may be interesting, as much as I love the contrast on OLED, I'd rather wait until MicroLED becomes affordable/mainstream. (Or anything else with the high contrast and no risk of burn in) I've been on 1080p panels for eons, looking to swap to 4k as I feel now that modern rigs can run most games in 4k pretty close or at 144hz, it's about time finally. Just a waiting game anymore, waiting to see what manufacturers come up with each year.

After two years using the G9 monitor I got back to a 4K TV 144Hz and it is awesome especially because you get the GLOSSY Screen - VA Panel + Mate coating on a Gaming Monitor = MEGA FAIL

What I dont understand is why you were not able to use the Ergotron HX arm with this? The Ergotron is rated to hold 42 Lbs and the LG monitor weighs 34Lbs. Im wondering if you did not re-adjust the stand after you put the different monitor. those stands need to be adjusted to hold the weight of the monitor you put it on. I had no issue with the HX and 48GQ900-B works seamlessly after i adjusted for the different weight

with your video I feel like.. oh yeah I buy it now.. then nahh dont buy it. I like to replace my 2* G7 Monitor with 1 G9 OLED or with LG PG49WCD OLED (comming this month) which fully supports 2 source hdmi via PBP/PIP. But I cannot decice between the ultra wide or the C3. C3 does not really supports PBP as its running only in 30hz with pbp mode enabled while VRR and gaming features are disabled.

My LG C3 48 inch TV makes a great monitor......120 MHZ refresh rate. Great for video and very sharp type. I would highly recommend the LG C3 48 inch TV as a monitor. Yeah it is 11 hundred dollars but well below the cost of an actual computer monitor with the same specifications. I've never had eye fatigue and it helps to sit back just a bit. Burn in has never raised its ugly head.....just tell you task bar to vam voos while not being used and it will be just fine. I have the 48 LG plus a 43 inch Acer and a 32 inch LG computer monitor.

@@koinimam4627 The 48 has the edge. I just love the picture quality and the real estate of the 48. The 43 isn't bad..it just is no 48!
