I've managed to get it working, and have tested it numerous times to ensure it's not random. I'm on macOS Sierra 10.12.3. Here's the process I follow: 1. Connect Canon 600D DSLR via USB and switch into Video mode 2. Turn on EOS Utility (do not go into Live View) 3. Open Camera Live (window will show your camera and in 'Ready' status - do not click on the Camera Live app) 4. Exit EOS Utility (at this point, Camera Live still shows 'Ready') 5. In the Camera Live window, select your camera (in my case, I select Canon EOS 600D) When I select my camera, the status changes from Ready>Starting>Active. The camera responds accordingly by 'reconnecting'. From here, you launch CamTwist and follow the process from there. Hope this works for you guys. Blessings.

Ok, some of you have had problems getting the Camera Live app to work. I think I have found a work around in which you don't need Camera Live or the Camera Twist app. Give this a shot and let me know if it works: -Turn camera on and have it plugged into your computer -Open up the EOS Utility and select "Remote Shooting" -Another window pops up. Select "Live View Shoot". -This opens up another window that displays what your camera is shooting -Open up OBS and click on the + sign under "Sources" and select "Window Capture" -Set window to "Remote Live View Window Then follow the rest of the instructions I laid out in the video.

Have you tried using just the Camera Live App and EOS without using Cam Twist? Start CameraLive, turn on your camera (make sure it is in the video mode) and then launch OBS. In OBS, go to sources and select Game Capture (Syphon) as a source. Hit the gear icon at the bottom of that window to configure and select CameraLive as your source and hit ok.

ReefBum Yeah, volume on one and I have wicked fast upload and download. I think it might be my laptop. I also learned that the Canon 80D does't have a clean HDMI out, just from a USB mini to USB which may cause some lag, too.

Great video!! Everything seems to work properly all together. Just one big issue, I'm seeing a black screen all the time and Camera Live is mentioning "Camera Error". I feel like this app isn't supporting my Canon EOS C200, is it? I might try this out with someone else's Canon EOS 5D Mark III, but I was really hoping this would work out with the C200 as well.
@ReefBum6 жыл бұрын
You may also want to make sure you have the latest version of the Camera Live app. It is called Camera Live-2. I recently had issues myself with the camera being recognized but when I downloaded the updated app it worked.

@ReefBum5 жыл бұрын
Check the CPU of your laptop when you are streaming. If you have a bunch of other programs open it may cause your stream to buffer. I would also recommend streaming at 720p versus 1080p.
@selahattincin32915 жыл бұрын
ReefBum ReefBum Can you let me know how to set up for best option CPU setting or what ever is on MacBook Air computer and what is the best CPU option on OBS output settings... there is options as >> ultrafast, super fast, very fast, faster blah blaaa :) ... thank you!!
@ReefBum5 жыл бұрын
@@selahattincin3291 I use Fast for the OBS output setting. Use the Activity Monitor on your Mac to see what your CPU is while streaming. It will tell you how much OBS is using up and how much other programs are using. This way you can see what programs are running and possibly hogging up your Mac's CPU .....thus making it easier to know what programs you can shut down while streaming.

Hi Keith I saw yesterday your video from 2016, on how to use a DSLR Camera for Facebook Live. It’s been really helpful. The only situation is that I’m having trouble with the last version of the Camera Live App. It’s so unstable with MacOs Mojave that I can’t complete the rest of the process for going Live on Facebook (Except for one occasion where I could complete the process, but the Camera Live failed eventually). By the way, I’m using a Canon Mark III, too. My question is… do you know if there is another app besides Camera Live, that I could use to complete the process for going live on FB? Attach an external microphone to the PC's headphone/audio jack. If you have an external microphone for your DSLR (like the RODE VideoMic) buy an audio-extension cable (really cheap and can be found in any store that has electronics (tv's, cameras etc)) and instead of connecting the microphone to the camera - attach the microphone to the laptop using the extension cable. This should do the job.

Bummer. I have not tried it myself but another KZbinr said it would work.

whats happend withe the audio source, were it comes from if i use lavalier?
@ReefBum6 жыл бұрын
The audio source comes from your laptop or PC, not the camera. You can plug a mic into the jack on either one and you should be good to go.

Hi Reefum its nice video Thank you so much. However, Im having a problem connecting my EOS R to camera live. When I click at Canon EOS R tab in camera live the status changes from "Ready" to "Camera Error" what could be reason??
@ReefBum6 жыл бұрын
I released an update to this video that provides the steps for a much more stable workflow (see link in the video description) versus this one. Not all cameras will work with Camera Live so I would use my latest tutorial.

Which port on my Cannon camera do I connect to? “HDMI" or the “A/V Out Digital”?
@ReefBum5 жыл бұрын
You will want to connect via the HDMI port, typically it is a micro port.

How to live stream and save the files at the same time?
@ReefBum6 жыл бұрын
I don't do this since it eats up more CPU on the computer which may cause the live stream to buffer.

So there’s no other way to Connect the camera to the iPad not to the computer and streaming live?
@ReefBum4 жыл бұрын
I always like to live stream with a wired connection so I would avoid using an ipad. But if you have to use an ipad use the built in camera for the ipad.

Is there any way to livestream with one of Canons cameras over wifi without the use of the USB or other cables to be able to roam free?
@ReefBum6 жыл бұрын
I would always recommend being hardwired from the camera to the computer or laptop since you could experience buffering over WiFi.

I've managed to get things working up until getting it to then connect to Facebook. I did it as you say in the video but OBS gave me a black screen... When i use EOS Utility Facebook doesn't appear to connect to the livestream... Have i missed something?
