I appreciate your approach to telling these people's stories. They deserve to be remembered, but I'm not here for 'tea' on deceased people. You're treating them with respect and dignity, and that's commendable.

I've been a genealogist for 40 years and love that there are people like you who repair headstones. If/when you find the name for that first tablet, is there someone who can carve it into a base so they aren' lost forever?

You have motivated me to clean every stone marker in my family burial plot. Thank you for your kind work to strangers. Everyone has a story and deserves respect. God Bless.

As a genealogist and someone who enjoys doing lookups for others on Find a Grave, I just want to thank you for returning the past to future generations. These forgotten stones may one day help someone discover who they are. I sure wish someone would do the same for my lost ancestors!

Good plan and I look forward to seeing how those rebuilds progress and what techniques you employ. Here mortaring is limited by temperature in the summer and early fall as well as in the winter (then along with rain). It's already too hot to mortar. We can generally only really do mortaring between late March and maybe up to late June. It's predicted to be 112 F here today. I love your work and am always excited to see there's a new video. I wish I'd had this resource when I started. And, yeah, everybody's got a story. Know that you have a loyal following who appreciate what you do.

Realized I didn't leave a comment yesterday! How great that the city is really helping out. Great partnership! It's nice to see how much support they're giving. I love every bit of content you post! You work so hard, but the results are fabulous! And it's always a fun and interesting watch. I'm hoping you invite Katie to visit and lend a hand for a few days. (I'm assuming you're still working there. I know this was from last fall, but it's such a massive project I imagine you're still working away!) She's also a favorite of mine and the two of you are so simpatico. Kindred spirits with a great vibe!

Based on your designs in videos, I'm going to attempt to create a hand crane to fix stones. However, if you get to travel there at some point, Colorado Springs, CO has a Fairview Cemetary in great need to stones being leveled and repaired. I love your work! I know it's a big ask but hey, you never know when you might be in the area!

Hi from England, UK thank you for the amazing job you do 😊 my girlfriend use to clean her local graveyard and has always wanted to do the restoration part but she's never known where to go to learn, probably a long shot but any advice for her as she's 37 and has wanted to learn this and do this as a job since she was a teen oddly 😂 so any advice would be amazing and again thank you for the hard work and effort you put into this 😊

you have to think.. from 1850-1900 the population of Iowa exploded from like 200k to 2.2m in the space of 50 years.. so the people that lived there in that time and buired there must have had some stories to tell... particularly in the 1860's due to the civil war. thanks for doing this work.

There is a Jewish cemetery in Cincinnati that was torn up by some haters recently. Around 175 stones were turned over and many broke. Could you help the families out or do you know someone in the ares that would? It’s not a cemetery I have family in but it’s so sad to see. You could find the story online.

FYI, The stone belongs to Elizabeth Jane Turner. She was born 28 August 1833 in Wayne County, Indiana. She died 31 March 1857 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was married to James Riley Straight. He was born 27 Sep 1826 in Illinois and died 30 Jun 1885 in Oregon where he is buried. They were married 25 Sep 1851 in Polk County, Iowa (most likely Des Moines). They had two children together, Viretta Eveline Straight in 1852 and Leonard Straight in 1856. With two young children James remarried Caroline Jurney soon after the death of his 1st wife on 21 Sep 1857 in Des Moines. James and Caroline went on to have 5 more children together and moved to Oregon where James eventually died. Elizabeth is my 6th cousin 4 times removed. Viretta is also buried in the Sims Cemetery and may be one of the other stones you are working on since her stone is lying flat. Thank you for what you do.

For Elizabeth's headstone, if you get it completely clean, it's harder to read and appreciate the artwork. It you clean only the highpoints and let the background stay darker, then it will all be more visible. If you were removing all the dirt and discoloration for a preservation purpose, I think you didn't mention that.
