You need to hold the yarn out directly from the holder.

Where can you get the cones?

My winder came with some cones but we 3D printed more. If you don’t have a 3D printer people do sell the 3D printed versions. They’re not very expensive.

It looks like the yarn is not moving all the way up and down through the 'slotted guide' as it should after the first couple of turns. I am finding it hard to see why it isn't (even when I slow the video down). Perhaps it would be worth winding it slowly while carefully watching to see why it is not winding up and down the full height of the slotted guide and instead reversing direction halfway through the cycle?

@@meganmills6545 Thank you so much for helping. I did figure it out eventually. The guide for the yarn was slightly bent and did not allow the yarn to travel perpendicular to the cone. My husband adjusted it slightly and it worked like a charm! You’ll notice in the video the yarn looks angled going onto the cone. Now It winds the full length of the cone.

@@kanika3790 Excellent! I love it when a good tool is 'rescued' and given a new lease of life. Perhaps sometime you can show us another video of it working properly, there are probably other people who have the same problem and are wondering how to fix it. :-)

You need to hold the yarn out directly from the hole tension should not be pulled back tension should be directly from the hole
