Using a DEFU 238RS Key Cutting Machine

Some practical experience with a DEFU 238RS cheapo chinese key cutting machine. The end result was perfectly fine, although it wasted a blank figuring out all the variables. If there is any interest in the comments, I might share a more detailed vid explaining some of the other techniques I figured out to get a good result....

The JMA Berna Simply is a precise, very accurate machine when it comes to key cutting. The problem is the *overheating* after 25 keys in a row. You must stop and then continue. But in general it IS A VERY RELIABLE MACHINE. I've had it for almost 18 months now and it does an excellent job.

Did you know you have install the blade the wrong way, you need to flip it for better cutting

Which blade do you mean? The circular cutting blade or the "blade" of the key itself?

So it will cut upwards and reverse the spindle too.???? Interesting, No fine tune on the spade??? You got a useless machine for normal an car keys!!!

​@@balwek2I need to cut a lot of simple house keys. That's my use case. This is the cheapest model from Defu, others do more, this does what I need. I custom ground the spade to get it to the accuracy I need. I've had no problems with any copies I've made so far. I think that particular machine was intended for the standard square cut style of Chinese door key, which I hadn't realised at first. If I remember correctly I picked it up for eighty EUR. It's already saved me more than that in paying for cut keys.

Not very good, but good enough. Get a better quality one if you are going to do more than a few keys occasionally.
