Using a Leash as a TETHER in the CAR

As a career fireman/paramedic I have to shake my head a little. What most of these people aren't considering when traveling with a dog is if it isn't secured, it's a potential projectile. Take a look an interior car camera as a car gets into a wreck and consider your dog. A roll over, wow, nightmare. The dog can injure the other occupants too.

Totally agree. The only way to safely secure a dog in a car is in a specialized crate that will withstand that kind of impact. The intention of this video is not that level of safety, but to show ways to keep your dog in the back seat etc so they don't cause a car accident.

Why not use a harness instead of a collar?

Hey Carrie, you can use a harness if your dog prefers it or if you do. Gio HATES anything on his body, so I use his collar.

Janine, if your back seat has a headrest, tie the leash around that to keep your dog in the back seat.
