Got my Key 61 for $1,349 new. Chord function of the Key 37 was added to Key 61 firmware at the time of release Key 37. I don’t use it but it’s now there.

Except from some hardware features, like i/o and extra knobs, ALL MPC's do the same nowadays....The modern MPC's that is. Software is all the same.

@@muppetpaster Apart from the Akai Force. Now my Key 61 is sitting idle due to having the Force. I might see if the ARM processor board of the 61 works in the Force. They all use the same board but the 61 version has a bigger RAM chip. I'm not up for surface mount soldering, so I'll just swap them over. Someone else swapped the chip and their Force then had 4GB.

you're forgetting the price of the plugins the 61 comes with. thats a big part of what makes the price justified along with the fact it has more ram

@@sandersmediagroup3248 mpc key 31 over here is £799, key 61 is £1300 and the plugin complete is £500. so when you think about it the 31 and plugin pack works out to the exact same price as the 61. the plus to the 61 here with that in mind is more keys and more ram for the same price

I don't buy a lot of plug-ins. As a matter of fact, I bought Jura which is the only one I ever bought. I use external modules and keyboards. I do a lot of MIDI productions, and bounce to audio. The Key 31 is just a tool my friend. The objective is to not limit ourselves in our productions but to expand with the tools that we have access to.
@kroser198310 ай бұрын
@@sandersmediagroup3248 "limit yourself" thats not what i was getting at. i do the exact same thing as you just with the 61. i do like the look and small size of the 31 though.
@sandersmediagroup324810 ай бұрын
Sorry for the confusion, I was not saying you were. My point was to use whatever you have to do the job you are doing. It just so happens that I like hardware. I didn't buy this for the plug-ins. And to add to that, like I mentioned earlier, this is a tool for me. My work is done in a DAW. Studio One to be exact. So the Key 37 is in support of that.

Does the key 61 also do the single key chord thing you mentioned?

Yes it does very effectively as well I love it.

So long story short, you plugged your external SSD into the USB port of the Key 37?
@sandersmediagroup324811 ай бұрын
Yep
@sandersmediagroup324811 ай бұрын
No it's actually an internal SSD from my MPC Live.
@WeCreateMusicTV11 ай бұрын
@@sandersmediagroup3248 ok so how did you install the internal SSD from your MPC Live into the MPC Key 37? If you did not install it into the MPC Key 37, then as @valuemastery indicated you plugged your external SSD into the USB port of the Key 37?
@sandersmediagroup324811 ай бұрын
Sure. It's not an external SSD. It's an internal SSD. I just put the drive itself, into an external 2.5 hard drive enclosure. (yes that is a thing). Thanks for the comment. Now I will do a video on that process because I'm getting so many questions about it. Stay tuned, friend.
@WeCreateMusicTV11 ай бұрын
@@sandersmediagroup3248 Appreciate the response. Yes, I know that is a thing lol. I have several of internal SSD's that I have placed into a 2.5 hard drive enclosure. What is being asked is if you somehow installed this into your MPC Key 37? If that is not the case, then you plugged your internal SSD that you put into a 2.5 hard drive enclosure into the USB port of the Key 37, as there is no way to open the MPC Key 37 and put a physical internal 2.5 SSD into the machine.

It's utter madness there's no option to install one internally. I reckon the port is even there, just they intentionally omitted the hatch and option for product differentiation.

@sandersmediagroup324810 ай бұрын
I Don't like the speaker in front. Besides, my first MPC was the Live. What you call a low standard, is beyond your comprehension. People are always putting down what they don't understand. What else is out right now equals the Key 61 or 37. Nothing. PERIOD. And you are asking my subs to go backwards. Please miss me with that. Peace.
@6581punk2 ай бұрын
Not really. The only thing this lacks is the SSD bay. The user interface on the MPC key is better than the Live series which have very few physical controls. Even the MPC One has a better UI than the Live. I've had the Live (gave it to a friend), MPC Key 37, MPC Key 61 and Force. The best interface goes to the Key 61 and Force, then the key 37 and one, Live is last. I've not had the MPC - X. I imagine that's the best for the drum machine type workflow.
