You would need to purchase a twin stretch needle to use for tshirts!

I'm so glad I found you! I've had my machine almost 20 years, but just in the last 2 years starting sewing more seriously.. I've lost my 2nd spool pin... hoping the Universal I found on sewingmachineparts will actually work.. lol because once I order it, the original will surface 🤣🤣

I have a Kenmore 385.17926, and it never came with a twin needle. But if I look in the manual, it shows it’s available to Oder. What’s the procedure to order and my other question is the same as Hilushenka’s, do we change the cover plate? Thank you!

You shouldn’t have to change the cover plate. You only have to insert the needle. I would take the model number of the twin needle and do a search for it online. Make sure the needle you get matched the model /item number in the description. I use a Schmetz twin needle. It states 4/100 on it. I hope this helps.

I went to Joannes fabrics with my book from my machine. They sold me Schmetz twin needle to use with Kenmore. I bought a universal one and stretch one. I use the zig zag presser foot. The needle does not hit the plate.

what needle brand you use for kenmore machine. or any double twin needle will be ok.?????

My double needle is Schmetz brand. My regular needles range from Schmetz brand to universal needles. Just make sure you are using the correct size need for the fabric you are working with. Check out this video in needles and sizes kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJbEioCvi6ljq68

Hi, I have Kenmore old model which according to a manual shouldn't have a problem with sewing with twin needle but it hits the plate...no idea why since i use the recommended settings. is it possible that this has something to do with the needle type? The twin needle that I use is by Schmetz . The number 4/100 is written on it. I know that we have different models. It seems like that may not be the correct needle for your machine because the width between the needles may be wider than what your machine allows. I’m sorry I couldn’t assist further. The manual may have the correct twin needle model number you may order also.

I know this is a year old, but if your needle bar and needle bar arm are out of alignment it can cause the needle to hit the foot.
