i use an air compressor that is meant to fill car tires or air mattresses and it works amazing! when i am taking grips off, or putting on any expensive ones, i always use a sleeve of hard cardboard poster tube (like a thicker paper towel roll) to slide over the grips to prevent them from exploding. i have even put on some winn grips before i knew that you weren't meant to be able to do it that way! thanks for the great video.
@3PuttBogey Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the occasional explosion can make you jump. That's why I switched to a nozzle I can control instead of an on/off switch that's usually nowhere near you when you start to see that bubble forming! I've never had any success with winn grips, but that doesn't mean its not possible! Thanks for watching.

I have a piece of PVC pipe that I cut in half and tape around it while trying to remove grips (Thanks Mobile Clubmaker). Make sure tou use some substantial tape when doing this (ie duct tape). Masking tape will burst along with the grip.

Love your video. Thank you! I never thought of using air. I regripped my clubs for the first time. I tried the traditional way. I used double sided tape. Lube the grip inside, lubed the tape then slipped the grip on. However it was a pain to get the grip on. Not as easy as some videos showed. I ended up doing the rest of the clubs like this… Still using double sided tape but I didn’t take the protective layer of 2nd side of tape off. Lube the grip. Lube the tape and slide the grip on. So much easier to put on. Two questions thought! 1. Is it OK to do it this way? The grips don’t feel like they will come off. 2. I may have stretched the grip a bit longer than the original grip. Is that OK too?
@3PuttBogey Жыл бұрын
Yes it should work. From a cost perspective its a little more expensive using the double sided tape, but if that's what you have, it will work fine. I would try to get them to their normal length, just because as you stretch it, you're making the grip thinner. I've found just holding the end and shooting a little air in there brings them back to their natural length. Or use an unused grip as a guide. Thanks for sharing, glad it helped.

Has anyone tried to put on JMX Ultralite grips using compressed air? If so, how much pressure do you set it to?
@3PuttBogey Жыл бұрын
They are a 2 piece grip. Not really recommended for compressed air installation. If you want to try 1, you can, but most likely will get ruined. Id start at 30psi and work up 5psi but def don't exceed 50psi. Chances of ruining them are pretty high.

I've been using air and regular masking tape with this method for a while now (I got the same compressor in the video from Menards). I have always been wary of trying it with the Winn grips, but I was wondering how it would work with the JumboMaxx Ultralite grips. Would it be the same issue? All the grips I've tried it with so far have worked great. Where can I get the build-up tape you use?

It should work with the jumbo grips/ultralight... the buildup tape is from golfworks.com its a little pricey compared to masking tape, but has a much better thickness and withstands multiple installations

@migratorygame7400 Жыл бұрын
@maxsmart8954 I had to cut my old grips off, I used double side tape and new grips. The air worked with soap and water to put the new grips on, but it only worked because I folded the tape over the end of the shafts a little to cover the hole in the shafts. I used a needle for a ball at the end of the new grip, and they went right on.

To build up the grip. If you just put out on the shaft bare, the grip will be slightly too big and it will move around. So yeah, actually I 100% know why.
