Thank you for the advise and it worked for me! I found out the best way is to COPY files from GO2 to SSD usb first , then delete files off GO2. do not use Cut & Paste! since the cut & paste transfer rate is only around 1mb/s , but Copy transfer rate is up to 11mb/s , 10 times difference. Don’t know the reason of it.

Thanks for the advice. I'm still waiting for my Go2 to arrive. Fortunately, I already have OTG USB hub on hand. (using it with other device). Now there's two things I need to get - portable SSD and a new phone. (current phone has CPU that's just one version too old)

Personally I'm not likely to actually need this method of transferring files unless I do go away from home for a few days, while also using the Go 2 and other cameras needing backup. Still, it's good to have the solution to hand for when the virus allows getaways again!

Is it possible to simply connect the Go 2 straight to the phone for file transfer? From what I understand (correct me if I'm wrong) you can wirelessly transfer files even if out of service range or wifi being unavailable (in remote locations like backpacking). But I would imagine a hard connection would still be faster and less power drain, yes?

Now that my Go 2 no longer functions I'm afraid I can't test any more, but someone else might respond, or try the Insta360 official forum.

I have a similar setup using a wifi hub (SSK...) but I have not bought the Go 2 yet. You can see the setup in one of my videos. But wouldn't the insta360 app do the job of transferring files from Go 2 to the phone using their built-in wifi?
@Ozpeter3 жыл бұрын
It would - but it buries them deep in the Android file system - you can't specify where they go (for instance on a removable SD card) - and it's slower. And if you fill the Go 2 each day of your holiday, you'll run out of phone space. My 64GB phone doesn't quite have enough free space space for a single full Go 2 of files. My FileHub doesn't want to see the Go 2 as a drive for some reason, otherwise that might have worked - just sees it as empty, which is odd. The hub method is wired for speed and you have total control of what goes where.

Good advice! But how long does the actual file transfer take for a given number of GB? Others have reported awful long transfer times between the Go2 and their phone via wifi? They also reported fast battery drainage of both the Go 2 and the phone, so both had to be kept charging all the time.

@@Ozpeter From your video I take it that you tested the actual file transfer with your setup. Therefore you should know how fast the file transfer was, compared to just transferring a file directly to your phone.

@@klausadrift7568 I simply don't remember - but it wasn't a significant issue. Speeds might depend on the card being used, the phone in use, etc etc - but the solution seemed to be a good one else I wouldn't have suggested it.

FX file manager (Android) seems to be what I used - is that what you mean?
@barryobrien18903 жыл бұрын
@@Ozpeter Yes. I tried that but on my pixel 4xl it crashes whenever I plug the camera into the hub, or any drive formated with exFAT which is the go2 native format. It works fine with mixplorer which natively supports NTFS and exFAT. It is free from developer or $5on google to help support developer. I use this and it's fine. Your phone may have a native exFAT support. Paragon also sells a driver which allows Google file manager to work with go2

Hi Peter, thank you for the advice, it's a great setup. apperantly I made the mistake of purchasing an external hard drive that draws too much power out of my mobile, every time I connect the hub (with the external hard drive connected to it) - the phone restarts. My biggest complaint about this camera is actually the horrible app and support on it. They still have not added the function to export to an external SSD. I still have to export to my photos app on ipad, then copy it to my ipads storage, then copy it to my external SSD, meaning I have to have double the necessary free space on my ipad just to export the videos. They could simply put it in the availability to export to an external SSD...
