The Insta360 Go 2 doesn't support USB-C to USB-C data or power. They only support usb-a to USB-C. You can use the adapter that comes with phones for female usb-a to make USB-c that connects to your phone/tablet. I have found success in data/power transfer using this method.

Not working in 2024 on Android 13 because Google has locked 🔒 users from copying files to the Data folder 📂. Anyone here know of a workaround? Why can't the Insta360 App look elsewhere for files such as Downloads, Pictures, DCIM, etc...?!

I've a question do you do this before you edit edit the video on your phone or after ... I just edit some video on the X3 it's taking forever to download now can I export the files after the edit or do I have to export them first then edit them ?

This is to first get your footages to the phone. For me, there is no way for most editor prog like Premier pro, FCPX or Davinci Resolve to understand the 360 files from Insta360. So the quick way is to get it to phone, and export it as a readable combined file for edit. Usually you will need to Wifi transfer it to phone, but wire transfer is just faster. And by knowing this method, you can also archive the Insta360 footages first elsewhere, and come back to it later for exporting and editing.

As of today, the USB-C to USB-C work on the insta360 GO 2, no OTG dongle required. I use a Samsung A71 phone, plug the USB-C on both ends, the phone shows a USB storage is inserted, i can open the USB storage, copy the files and paste on to a SD card storage drive, no need to change any settings on the phone, very straight forward, just like plugging a USB drive into a laptop.

Thanks for the update. Tried multiple Type C-C cables and not all worked, but maybe firmware updates along the way or Type C-C data cables are common now, making this transfer way easier. Cant believe they tried to sell some funny adapter to get this job done previously.

A normal smartphone fast charger like 5v2a will do. But yes, to charge will mean to have it in the case. The cam is on loan from a bro. Loved it, may wanna get my own.

With recent updates of Android, my files have been rearranged and the current directory is: Internal Storage/ Android/ Media/ com.arashivision......../ Insta360OneR/ galleryOriginal Any difference to your directories? It should work with this.

@@TheReelRahim I had around 108 video files and most were 1-2 mins long, some were longer and transferring via WiFi took me at least a day because both the phone and one X2 were overheating so had to stop multiple times! I was about to order the cable from Insta360 but after stumbling across your video it never crossed my mind to take the SD card out of the camera and insert into the phone 😅. Without your guide I would never have known how to drag and drop files from the camera to the phone so are the man thanks so much! 🙏

I couldn't get this to work on my Insta 360 GO2. I tried a USBc to USBc cable and also changed to a USBc to USBa with an adapter back to USBc. I know my cables are data compatible because I can transfer files from the GO2 to my M1 Mac using these cables. As soon as I plug in USBc to the GO2 it briefly shows "USB mode" and then the camera seems to lock-up with a flashing blue light and the GO2 base can no longer connect to the camera (each time I try to connect it says "timeout". Even after I unplug the USBc it the base can no longer connect to the camera until I do a hard-reset on the GO2 camera (7 second hold button). A message on the phone (Pixel Pro) flashes about every 15 seconds "Open Insta360 app to handle null?". Can't click yes because the dialog on the phone dismisses itself too quickly. Would love to get this working or find another non-laptop way to offload footage quickly from the camera to some sort of external storage device. Like you said, the wifi connection is too slow (and unreliable).

I tried to do this with GO 2 and my Android phone. Connection got lost during file copy which resulted such a failure that all my footage (including old ones) got deleted from my GO 2. It seems that this process might be very dangerous to the original files.

I tried this method with my Insta360 One Rs and using the either a OTG adapter or a straight through USB-C cable it will turn off the my Insta360 One RS. I haven't found a way to do a wired transfer yet.

Any tips on File management? Just made like 50 clips in 1 day...and without being able to organise or rename files, its a bloody knightmare. Have to start each video by shouting out a number, like an old school movie snap board, kinda annoying unless there are any aps that can rename video files on the go?

Actually im loving the original filenames, coz thats how i organize my work folders. I work w Canon, Gopro and DJI files too, and Insta360 file organization works for me. Rather than having a generic file number, Insta360 went with YYYYMMDD. Even added a time stamp in there. Abit long, but gives a better chrono arrangement, and will never have same file names as other events. DJI resets numbers with every reformat 🤦🏽‍♂️

I imported files from the ONE RS to the App on Android already. I'm trying to back that up onto my computer but the folder you mentioned is empty. The files show up on the Insta360 app, but not in the Myfiles app. I've tried using Samsung switch on the Mac and the folder is empty. Is there another way to access the already imported files? This is the part that confuses us because Android may have changed directories. I personally do not have a One RS, but I believe the way this is done is not far off. So maybe an option would be for you to try manually looking around your Android directories. For sure it is in your phone since you can see it in the app, but likely it will be somewhere deep, like how i found it. In quick lookup, i found a OneR folder here : Internal storage / Insta360OneR. Could be here for u?

Should be not much of a problem, but you will need to do afew things. 1) Copy those files from phone to a portable storage device like a external SD card on a reader, or a portable SSD 2) Download the DESKTOP editor to a Mac/Windows desktop and install it there. www.insta360.com/download/insta360-onex2 3) Import it there with the required .insv and .lrv files there and you should be good to go to create Hope that helps🙏🏽

Official transfer cable DOES work with X3. I have just tested this cable and when connected to the camera in Android mode the latest videos show in the album if you select ALL in the 360 App. You get the option to edit,download to phone or share via social media if you long press the image of the video.👍Tested with Note20 ultra cannot verify if on IOS as I don`t own one.

Like if i transferred it to my phone and decided not to do anithing to it yet, i could just transfer it to a phone external thumbdrive, to free up space and edit it later.

Im sorry friend, i do not have a Peanut to try. Maybe would explore this if my friends have it ✌🏽. For now, u could explore. Wifi transfer a sample footage to phone first, say a 5sec clip. And then try this similar method to trace its end directory. Will take awhile, as i dont even know what half of the Android directories are 😅. But it may work 🤟🏽

Have not tried myself, but it should work if I recall as the file directories are "One R". No harm trying as there is no special firmware that needs to be installed, and so should not have any risk of corruption to software.

I dont have the Insta Go 2 with me right now, but I have tested to PC with my Insta One X2. Needs to power on the camera, then plug in to PC. Then in settings will need to change to 'USB Mode'. This i where the PC should recognise the camera as a USB storage. You can then transfer your 360 files just by copy/paste. BUT you will need all 3 '.insv' files. 2 will be the front and back video files and the 'lrv' file is the data file that stitches them together and other information. This will be data files and not playable video files. You will not be able to use or see the video unless all 3 have been loaded into their desktop application. Yes you can also send it to cloud, but your editor will need to be stitch the video in Insta360's app or desktop application. Hope that helps.

It should technically work the same as the file directories in the smart phone should be similar. But recently I heard that there may have been Android updates that may prevent it from working out, so do try it on your own device.

Great to hear it worked out. As for the process of editing, usually exporting is the common term to produce a finished product, like a .mp4 or .mov, which can then be edited in common software. But if its still in its raw and unexported state, only the app or their desktop 360 software can read it. I find that its a tedious workflow. I first use the app to export a full 360 video. Then I bring it to FCPX and set to 360 video editing, just so i can edit like any normal non-360 clip. Cut, titles, music etc. Once done, export again to be ready for KZbin. Well worth it for that special 360 view on YT.

I feel its a good camera, having given birth to many innovations that the action cam world didnt have before. This method of transfer is just an optional method. E recommended way is still wifi. I wish for the future ver to come with an external SD. 🤟🏽

Hi mate, sorry took me awhile, was on vacation. Aniways I have not tried it myself, but I dont think it would work as there is no out video output capability. Still a slim chance though if you set it as USB mode, and then read the device as a storage device from your TV. If successful, then you could just open videos as files.
