Excellent informative video for novices like me. You explain things in plain English, and have great close up demonstration shots. Thank you!

Thanks for the video. I didn't know these connectors were becoming so useful and standardized. I have a Yeti and will be making my own connectors like you did.

Good video and I need to get all my equipment standardized on anderson power poles. My biggest issue with them in the past was they are fairly pricey for a small bit of plastic and a crimp end, but they do make things easy to connect up.

Thank you, Larry! I just got a Tricrimp (er) and Anderson starter kit and this walk - through is very, very helpful; now I'm going Anderson Power Pole happy with all my wires! Thanks again!

Great to hear that, I am really happy with those connectors around here. Use them on anything I can these days it seems! Glad the video was of use for you...thanks for the post and 73

That's for sure, Larry. May I suggest that for the 15A connectors the use of tweezers. I've found that to push those smaller, 15A connectors into the Anderson plastic housing is a bit of a challenge without a tweezers-assist - just a suggestion that worked for me. Thanks again and 73!

That sounds like a good idea, I will have to try that next time, thanks for the great tip!

Larry, One of the best Ansderson Power Pole Videos I have seen on You Tube. You covered it all. I actually have gotten to be OK in crimping them with a pliers set (no recommendation that is 4 sure) but you now just convinced me to stop being cheap and get a nice set of crimpers. You're like me, I got 10 sets of power poles and in 3 days I was ordering more! The uses are just unlimited. ( BTW, can you imagine doing this video with the 'Ol Hand Held Mic? )Great job, Ron KB3VEW

I use Power Pole connectors too. I solder mine on because I trust it a little more plus I don't need to spring for the fancy tool. I too have enjoyed the universality of the Power Poles with 12VDC hookups.You didn't mention that there are other colors such as green. I use some green grounding wire for in my shack so that's also quick to connect as required. Nice nice video, keep up the good work. VA7DH

Agree I've had the crimps fail out in the field without the crimper handy, so from this point on I'm in the soldering camp.

Yes, I like them already molded together like that, just saves another step and you know they are correct, seems like a good way to go to me anyhow!

Hey Larry!! I thought I seen all your videos.. hi hi!! I guess not. Anyway, I decided to go this route myself. I connectors, wires, the tongues, and a crimper coming in the mail (should be here today) and I will be making my own. Like you said, it's cheaper making them yourself. Still looking that experiment hi hi!! 73 pal!!

Yes, they will work fine since the 100 watt radios draw a max of about 20 amps and that is just during the peaks on transmit. Thanks for the comment, much appreciated!

Larry, what gauge wire are you using mostly for your radios? very confusing as to what gauge im supposed to be using. i.e mobile rigs and installations. thanks! -Pete WB1FZY
@RadioHamGuy9 жыл бұрын
+Mudville ,MA For mobile radios, a very minimum of AWG 14 gauge for lower power radios but 12 is better and for 100 watt radios 10 or 12. The larger size wire is always better for less voltage drop or heating of the wire and less noise. And always go directly to the battery with leads fused right at the battery or power supply.
@phreebeere9 жыл бұрын
thanks again! looks like 12 awg at 30a might be my standard

Thanks. I am going to figure out how to make these connectors watertight atleast from the wire side. I am trying with liquid tape, but it will peal off, I guess using a syringe with a big metall tip (buy from pharmacy) and use some epoxy glue from the hardware store. Its like potting i guess. Any ideas? For semi permanent installation I think using vulcanized tape is good to use ontop when both connectors are in place.

Great video for beginners like me. I am working on a project that requires Anderson Power Pole and I need a connector that can be installed flush into a surface and does not stick out. Would you have any recommendations?

Do they just pull apart to Disconnect from each end or is there a fiddley tab to lift up? Thanks
@RadioHamGuy4 жыл бұрын
There is no tab to lift up, they just pull apart. Very easy and they also stay connected together well. They kind of snap into place is the feel to me.

Nachteile: 1. Fehler beim Montieren können nicht korrigiert werden, 2. Montage fieselig, so dass Kabel am Ende vorgeschädigt sind, 3. Einwegprodukt, gut für den Umsatz des Herstellers, schlecht für den Verbraucher.
