Using Android Auto or Apple Car Play in the 2020 Ford Escape

When I first got my 2020 Ford Escape SE in black back in mid March 2022. I did it all by myself that evening just after when I drove home. It was very easy to used Apple Car Play in it. I have to areas to hook up my iPhone to play music on. I didn’t used the manual to read. It was liked using my iPhone SE(2). I now I’m using my newer iPhone 14 in it. I even liked the pink and red screen but, I had a couple updates from my iPhone and even the Escape,too. The screen is deleted from Apple Car Play. I used a blue one in my Escape now these days.

The best feature is you can enter shit on your phone gps while driving. instead of a NAV system making you pull over. and it will show on your car nav.

Wireless CarPlay isn't available as an option on the Escape unfortunately

Navigation works with my iPhone, but not with my wife’s iPhone. Does this system only work with one phone hooked up, or does one phone have to be forgotten?

You wouldn't be able to CarPlay from 2 devices at the same time in this car.. it would be whoever has theirs actively connected to CarPlay. Go to Settings -- > Phone and then connect to the phone you want to run navigation from

@@CarsWithSteve I wasn’t clear with question. I can set up my iPhone 12 to use navigation, my wife’s iPhone 11, is connected, and used, but only for calls. I understand you can’t use two phones at the same time. Just want to be able to switch phones for navigation depending on whose driving. My phone, just plug in and it works, hers not.

@@leogaudin4682 If hers won't connect to CarPlay when plugged in to use maps there are 2 things you can try. First is on your phone go to Settings -- > General -- > CarPlay and then select your car and make sure that CarPlay is turned on. If it isn't turn it on. If that doesn't let you connect to use navigation the other option would be to delete her phone from the car and delete the car from the phone and then reconnect

I can only listen to apps on my phone when plugged into sync.How do i listen to radio when hooked up to maps?

If you’re plugged in for android auto or Apple CarPlay press the Ford icon on the screen, that will take you back to the main sync screen. Once you’re there, select the audio tab and tune to the station you want. Then jump back into android auto or CarPlay!

Tried unplugging USB from the car? Under your phone settings --> General --> CarPlay, find your car. Is CarPlay turned on there?

First I have had several strokes and that is why some of my messages may sound a little weird. SORRY. How get app from my iPhone, to in the CarPlay the for 2020 Ford transit connect XLT. The app is not on the car. Put I want to on car the iPhone has the app I want. But on the CarPlay doesn’t now the on the list. ( SORRY)

I was using this apple car but now my usb port has some issue when I connect the charger the blue light is blinking sometimes and my phone is charging and stopping charging stopping. I have some electrical issue but I don’t know how to fix it.

Sounds like it could be an electrical issue if it happens intermittently. If you're in a 2020 you should still be within your factory warranty so have your local dealer take a look to see if they can figure out what's up

Not all 2020 ford escapes come with navigation I have learned so I use USB with my phone to use my phones navigation

That's right.. I find that phone navigation is better than factory nav anyways. Waze is the way to go!

Nope.. Android Auto should already be on your Android device! Just plug it in via USB and it should automatically come up
