As always, an excellent video Stefan! I don't often use Battery for my drums, so this was a good introduction to this approach to producing beats in Logic. But it did kind of leaving me wanting to know a lot more, where does this lead? Tips and tricks, workflow styles, what are the advantages of Battery over other means in Logic, logic drummer, maschine, ultrabeat etc, does it sound better etc. I've been trying to get to grips with Logic drummer and wondered if you might do an in-depth video on it? I would really like to know how to add my own drum samples in the default choice menu after you have created a track with a particular drummer. I know how to create my own kit with an 'empty kit' and drum machine designer and also how to change a particular drum sound in the ultrabeat once the beat is created. I have tried to drag my own sounds into the folder where the default sounds are kept, but Logic won't allow it. Any suggestions, tips? Am I wasting my time with the approach. Thanks again, best wishes, Andy.
@stefanguy7 жыл бұрын
+thewayfarer72 hey Andy, firstly thanks again as always! Secondly using battery is very similar to using ultrabeat but with more power and flexibility and with a much better user interface. (It's much quicker to add samples). I can do a video on what you've mentioned. If I can get it to work myself. I think i've tried placing the samples in the default library folders also. I can't remember how it went to be honest. I was trying different things when trying to make Trap Attack DMD. I'll give it another crack and get back to you! Thanks for the content!
@SoundSignals7 жыл бұрын
Stefan Guy sounds great man! I really look forward to that! There isn't another video on KZbin covering this, trust me I've looked! And you are right about the ultrabeat, it is not user friendly, it's ugly man! It makes me give up exploring rhythms. So Battery looks like a much better option for me to explore. But, what i love about the Drummer is how instantly it generates rhythms, intuits the rhythm and nuances of my samples and comes up with rhythms to suit the sample and also rhythms i might not necessarily have come up with myself. It seems like the Logic folk have put a lot of energy and investment into it. I also like the multitude of different effects settings on each the default drum elements (sub bass on the bass drums, wave shape, saturation etc). Whereas when you create your own kit you only get limited options. Obviously the default options have way more because they are chosen for the nature of that particular drum sound and you would have to bear that in mind whilst setting up your own sounds i guess. There is of course the 'load sample' option on the ultrabeat..... Coming from an MPC background, slogging the beat out on the pads, i am quite happy for the Logic drummer to do the programming work for me! I know that sounds lazy, but it is a welcome addition to me it as it frees me up to explore other aspects of the song. I guess I am just looking for other ways to improve using the logic drummer method with my own vinyl sampled drums collection. So, yeah any help with that is much appreciated! My apologies for the essay length comment!

Perfect video! You've got yourself another subscriber.. I'm wondering if anyone's encountered this issue I'm having.. Battery 4.1.6 keeps on scanning for its default library when you open it up. So even if it's been running and active, each time I click on it to bring up the Battery on screen, it starts scanning the library and it's frustrating as it takes a while to do it. The only trick to go around it is to click the back / next arrows to select another patch, or the COMPARE button. This stops the scanning, but now you've just exit from your sample selections, and if you haven't saved your patch in advance, you've just lost it all. I've tried installing, reinstalling older versions ( Battery 3, Battery 4.1.5 ) and I'm only having the issue with 1.4.6 Is it just a bug that I should wait it out for the next update or is there a way to fix it ? I've tried removing the libraries from the preferences tab and even removing the folders from the hard drive just to see how the plugin reacts. Either way the same result - if you close out the Battery window, the next time you open it up it will start scanning again. Thanks for the input!!
