Another Bitwig's surprise I was missing this from Logic Pro X's "Smart Controlls' ... but this in Bitwig is much better. Jürgen, how dou you get to know all this? maybe you have the superpower to really read the manuals 👍 thanks so much, this you are teaching here in this video I believe will almost complete my DAW's workflow to ideal.... I am using the Platform M+ customized with DrivenByMoss, an Akai Mini Mkii as a shortcuts and transport controller with my left hand, my right with a logitec trackball, a customized Nob controller for almost everything (super recomended!!!) and an arturia beatstep pro...... with that I controll my other synths and softsynts also... so with this, I might be able to easily use the motorized faders to controll ORDERLY my plugins parameters..... "make some funky musiccc!!!!!" 🤘

Hopefully a follow up question is alright. How would you do nested mappings? Say you have the midi cc device in the note fx section. How can I map the parent remote controls to that midi cc device?
@mossgraber Жыл бұрын
E.g. if you have a Polysynth and added a MIDI CC in the Note slot you can create a Perform remote controls page in the Polysynth and map parameters from the MIDI CC device to it. This makes sense if you want to store it as a preset. Or you could use now project or track remote controls in Bitwig 5 to which you can map any parameter.

Great tutorial! I have a quick question though. I am looking for a way to have a set of knobs be dynamic macros on a drum rack such as how Maschine works. I want to be able to select a pad and when I do the 4 knobs I have assigned would control say decay, pitch, filter cut off, and maybe volume per pad. Is there a way to do this? I know I can assign a midi cc knob to any perimeter but it wouldn't work if I switch to another pad or note. Thank you so much!

Yes, if you use a controller for which I support the layer mode, e.g. Push (from memory also: Akai Fire, Launchpad, MCU).

Thanks for all your video’s! I’m trying hard to use this feature, but I fail to map these remote controllers to my midi controller via Flexi. Specifically as such that the same hardware controller CC is mapped to the same slot of different devices. Now we have the 2.0 version of Flexi I’m completely lost. I’m clearly missing some basic understanding of the Flexi approach. Is it possible to make a video how to assign these functions in this video with Flexi? Would be much appreciated! Keep up the good work!

Hello, good video ! ! I have a question, at 09:00, where do you send the aftertouch mapping? to a Device or to a Preset page? thanks.
@mossgraber2 жыл бұрын
This is a VST plugin (so, not a native Bitwig device). In this case you can either map it to one of the parameters of a parameter page or directly to a parameter in the VSTs' parameter list.

Hey, in the first minute it shows you are scanning through the preset pages, is there a shortcut, or even better a midi control available to process through and back though preset pages ? I want to assign controls for frequency and gain of fabfilter pro q 3, I’m using a midi fighter twister and would love to be able to use one dial to control gain and crew per node. I have them assigned to remotes on page 1 and two but not sure how to roll between them. Obviously what would be super awesome would be to use the twister click button to cycle between, but I’m currently using a template which will only cycle between course and fine control. Jumping into editing the preset/template is a little overwhelming. As it’s a combo of both the midi fighter profile and also a custom script.

You can use my Generic Flexi which is part of DrivenByMoss (see the tutorial videos on my channel). There you can assign controls to specific pages or prev/next page.

Many thanks for that tutorial, helps a lot and works Now my problem: I created mappings for diferent plugins, but using only one and the same midi controller, mapped specifically for on and the same controller I want that only the current selected plugin, which is in the foreground or in focus, the one in use reacts to the midi controller and the other plugins in the back do not react. Lets says I have two plugings (A and B) I mapped plugins A and B individually to one and the same midi controller I mapped a control of plugin A to the midi controller's dial1 then I mapped a control of plugin B to the same midi controller's dial1 too Now when I use/turn the dial1 on the midi controller the settings on both plugins (A and B) get changed at the same time Both plugins (A and B) react to the dial1 movement on the midi controller, although I have only one specific plugin of the two selected, in the foreground Question: How do i achieve it that only the one plugin that is actually selected, or is in focus, lets say plugin A, reacts to the movement of the dial1 one the midi controller and not all the other mapped plugins as well? That in this case plugin B isnt affected by the movement as well. Hope my description of the problem makes sense, cause I cant find any information on that issue and cant figure it out on my own. Many thanks! :)

That is exactly how remote control parameters are supposed to work! What you need is a controller that is supported either by Bitwig or by my DrivenByMoss extension. If this is not the case you can still use my "Generic Flexi" which is part of DrivenByMoss as well (see the playlist on my channel).

@@mossgraber Thanks for the quick reply I'm using a Arturia Beatstep with your drivenbymoss extension I did the mapping shown as above in your vid, works. But my prolem is that, like I described it in the first comment, that one mapped midi controller dial always adresses all plugins together not only the plugin that is in front or in focus. But I want only the plugin that is in front, the selected one. Maybe it is a problem in the midi controller configuration or I dont know, I'm using your script with the Arturia BeatStep.

Insert a Macro modulator in the device which contains the knob which you want to invert. Turn the parameter you want to control fully to the right. Then enable macro knob mapping. Turn the parameter knob fully to the left. Map the Macro knob to Project, Track or device parameters.

Hi! Looking for some help after looking at the video. I am looking to map serato sampler parametars (i.e. filter) for all 32 sample parts to one knob. When I map lets say 1 to 1 ( 1 filter knob from one slice to 1 knob in presets or device pages) it works and moves the parametar. My thinking was that I can map all of these and add a macro to control them. This does not work. I tried the other way around, mapping all to macros and mapping thr macro to presetor device and still does not work. Any ideas?
@mossgraber5 ай бұрын
I don't have this plugin but it should work like this: turn all 32 filters fully to the left. Insert a single Macro modulator into the 1st modulator slot of the plugin. Enable mapping on the makro modulator (the blue arrow below the makro knob). Now move all 32 filters fully to the right (the range gets blue). Turn off mapping on the Macro modulator. The knob should now control all 32 filters.

Hi Moss! Great video as always :) In your opinion, what's the best controller on the market to operate Remote Control pages, Mixer and Transport? The controller doesn't necessarily have to have faders, keyboard or pads/clip launcher. I'd much really prefer a controller with at least 8 knobs with continuous input and led rings or display to show current value for both vst params and mixer levels, and maybe buttons for solo/mute etc beneath them... plus some buttons to use to switch pages/banks.

Go to the online shop of your preferred dealer, enter your filter criteria in the controller section, choose depending on your budget ;-)

@@mossgraber Budget is not an issue... I was thinking more on the line of what's good from a Bitwig script developer perspective (no filter for that... yet!) :) I have plenty of controllers (now playing around with PreSonus ATOM), but often have very poor support for MIDI, particularly when sending midi back to the controller to update leds, pads, etc. That's why I was asking you from the depth of your experience with these issues. bit of a late answer for you but if anyone else is looking for a controller like that, i think the midi fighter twister is pretty good option. 16 knobs with led rings, each knob is also a button. there is 4 banks of 16 knobs. the knobs can also be set to do something else when held down, like control volume normally, then control pan when held. the only thing that is missing for me is an screen that would display the parameters, but at least with bitwig you can just look at the remotes panel and see whats mapped, unlike other daws where you just have to remember. the faderfox ec4 is similar (16 knobs/button combo) and also has a screen, but ive heard theres some oddities like you can use both a button and knobs at the same time
