Ohh! This is so beautiful! What a fantastic idea! Love the candy wrappers crunched because it gives it more texture and the leaf looks real. Definitely giving this a try! Will show you coasters I made from your videos when I learn how to use a hashtag. 😀❤️👍🏼❤️❤️

You could use a whole sheet of that plasticy stuff, either clear or the multicolor shimmer stuff, after pouring the base resin. Then draw your outline with a 3d medium. Next, pour each section with colored resin. Then the whole thing would have that crinkled texture, without having to cut out fiddly bits. This looks incredibly beautiful!

You're welcome to try that out! 😊 I really enjoyed the creative process of this piece and the technique I used. Also, I have a few other stained glass techniques I use in my pieces... this was just a fun one for Christmas time .

As a child in school we used to use these wrappers to make stained glass items in art class, we didn't use resin though. Quality Street is British, mostly bought at Christmas 😃😃

Very nice work! It's really nice that cellophane is available in so many colors already, but you have found a way to repurpose in such a beautiful way. And I truly appreciate hearing the how-tos on the lovely creations you share here. I bought some coloring books to use in a similar manner, since I can't draw well. They even have coloring books with stained glass patterns in them. I'm newly retired, so I'm looking forward to any happy hours ahead watching you work and learning. Wishing you a very happy new year ahead!

Doing exact edges is actually quite simple, if you think outside the box... or in this case, outside the mold. Just pop the base layer out of the mold, trim your pieces to fit around your image and glue them down. Then use a razor or exacto knife to trim it around the edges of your piece. Pop it back into the mold and continue.
@LiaDiaDesigns
@LiaDiaDesigns 2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you've ever tried to remove a resin coaster from the mold then put it back in to pour on top of it... but in my experience, it breaks the seal around the coaster in the mold, so resin will leak down the sides and under the coaster, creating an uneven (and unattractive) bottom. Maybe you've had better luck than me with it, but I wouldn't recommend it based on my experiences. Once it's out of the mold, I would recommend doming the piece at most, but with a design like this you'll need a couple layers to cover the design fully.

I love the idea of doing stained glass in epoxy. Honestly I hadn’t thought of doing that. But I’m really curious what they looked like from the back? I’m wondering if the ‘lead’ area would look right from that perspective? Perhaps if I trying putting a double layer of ‘lead’, one first and let dry and then the color then another ‘lead’ area? Anyhow thanks for the inspiration and if I try that, I’ll be certain to add it to your instagram story. Beautiful work!! 🤟🏼🤍
@LiaDiaDesigns

For the technique I use, the lead on the back looks flat (because it's paint sitting on a surface, plus you can see that the paper was layered on first) ... feel free to experiment ! 🥰

They turned out beautiful! I’ve commented on one of your previous videos on how realistic your stained glass pieces look. I’ve learned so much from your tutorials and I want to return the favor and teach you a little about stained glass, I’m a retired stained glass artisan. When you cut glass you never want to cut a 90 degree angle or a V shape into the glass, because that area will crack or break at some point. You did great on all of your break lines except a couple on the bottom where your stem is. Honestly no one would notice this.. except a stained glass artisan. :) I love how innovative you are! Thanks for sharing another beautiful design!

Easy way to trace the paper in misshaped molds: Place and seal papee to bottom and lightly trace the shape with a pen. I'm pretty good at i, so, I can cut it with the tip of my straight blade or embroidery scissors. That should make it easier.

Ah Quality Street sweets, I always feel wasteful throwing these pretty wrappers away, they are such lovely colours. Nice idea you have shown and much more user friendly than real stain glass ( I have a drawer full of off-cuts of glass etc., from that past hobby!). These coasters are ideal for summer patio drinks and practical for kids and adults as they are realitively unbreakable for outside.👍

I had a tin at Christmas, besides being very tasty, I started to keep the packaging of the chocolate....FOR MY NAILS (ice💎 nails etc). So it's very nice to see this! Looks mega! I hope my nails will look this beautiful too?!💖Love from the Netherlands.
