When my dad was stationed in Virginia we used the same technique but off of docks. Sometimes we would pull up 3-4 on 1 chicken leg. Brings back memories. Thank you

My Dad was also Stationed in Norfolk, Virginia back in the mid-late 60's and and I was around 10 years old. We'd go down to the "Giant Open Air Market" and get chicken necks to use for crab bait, because they only charged about 2 cents a neck for them, LOL! We caught a ton of blue crabs using both string and traps. Feeling a crab pulling against you and easing him in was about as exciting as it got back then for a ten year old (although when you got them almost to the shore and they let go and took off was a "Soul Crusher", LOL)! After we left Norfolk, we were sent to Gulfport and then onto Corpus Christi but I don't think we ever crabbed after leaving Norfolk.

Amber is a crabbing machine. Hey Mike, don't know if I ever shared this blue crab tip with you or not, but if you put your chicken inside a ladies pantyhose they're will get snagged a little and make them less likely to turn the bait loose.

That first crab was super nice size! If perhaps you next catches are of the same size, you really won't have to catch many if it is just you, and your wife. Nice video. Great catches. It's great to go out on a beautiful day, and for nominal expense, have a great outing, and enjoy the bounty you catch. Keep up the great videos.

Good stuff - Mike, if you get that net on the bottom, you should be able to pull em right over the net and just lift to scoop em out. My dad and I filled coolers effortlessly like this back in the day, no need to swoop them quick. Y'all did great at that spot I'd say. Nice lil hideout ya found. Have a good one

Wow, you're good with that net. It takes some practice to nab a crab like that. When I was just about 3 or 4, we'd go crabbing in Galveston, TX bay and load 2 Igloo coolers with blues. Those were some really fun days. And, the crab feast was even better.

We crabbed off piers. There are public piers in the bay with easy access. Back then (a LONG time ago) very few people were out there, so we'd fill Igloo coolers with blues.

Try using pantyhoses with your bait inside. For the most, the crab claws will get caught in the materials and will not let the crab loose. Works for crawdads also. Ron in Los Angeles

use the wire net with a trotline because you can't afford one to get stuck in the net sometimes you will dip 7 or 8 in a row..the wire net is much faster. nylon nets are best for one at a time cause its much harder for them to get out.

Wow, Mike in South Western Pa a pack of 20 whole wings at Walmart is $12.40 average. I eat a lot of wings. Thats with prices up. You can get them from the butcher in bulk for 1/3 or less of that. I remember 5 cent wing night at places now they cost about 25 cents. Also we don't have tax on them here. Kinda shocked at your prices.
