like the other guy said china has many dialects, u can think of these like a combo of both heavy accents that change how words sound and slang words. when u speak to people from other provinces/cities, u speak in the common language (u can think of it like this i guess). so it makes sense that someone who only learns the common language and not dialects may have better or more correct vocab in that language. i think most people in everyday life speak like 90% dialect because they live in their city and only have to change their accent when they speak to people from other backgrounds (the same way i remove slang from my vocab and change my accent when i speak to old and respectful people in america) so thats why but idk feel welcome to correct me

@@agsdjklshadsabn understood. It's like in my country where Indonesian is the national language but almost everyone speaks local languages (not dialect) daily when they're in their city. But I guess the difference is in Indonesia the Indonesian language is taught extensively because it's the lingua franca so it's unusual to find an Indonesian that doesn't speak Indonesian that well, unless they're uneducated.

You should check out Kazu Languages. He has 150 videos of this type of content. He speaks 12 languages well and he recently added Mandarin, Cantonese, and Korean to his repertoire. He has many videos with Chinese people who swear that he must be Chinese, but he is from Japan. Kazuma has a similar, soft-spoken and laid-back style. Very kind and respectful and fun to watch. Henri is so good at making this kind of content. I just recently discovered him and immediately binged his videos. I also started listening to Chinese rap because of him. Very cool.
