Using Colorbond LVP To Easily Paint or Restore Your BMW Trim!

In this project I use about half a can of Colorbond LVP to paint match my BMW happy robot console trim.

Happy Robots are impossible to find on the used parts market and costs upwards of $200 for a complete brand new Happy Robot.
Luckily I managed to find a mint condition unused gray color Happy Robot on eBay for cheap
and I got the idea to paint match it to my car's black interior using Colorbond LVP 258 BMW Black.
Only prep I needed was sanding the trim and cleaning with rubbing alcohol on a terry (fuzz free) cloth.
No Primer or Clear Coat layers were needed to get a durable great looking result!
I used about 4 coats on the trim. I recommend waiting 10 to 20 minutes before adding coats and at least 2 hours before touching the trim and about 12 to 24 hours before putting trim back onto vehicle.

Would be better if you did a very light coat first then 1-2 mins later a thicker coat

This stuff is really great, I’m restoring an 86 Nissan 720 and the interior plastics are prone to fade away and I got ahold of some paint and it worked amazingly and I’ve left the dashboard to dry for a few days in the sunlight, solid stuff

If you use the adhesion promoter, then problems like the paint flaking off should be a problem. I’ve read how people got a little p**sed off cause their resurfacing didnt last long. They most likely didn’t use the adhesion promoter.

Do you think it’ll work good on leather? I want to put some on my arm rest but kind of scared of flaking

Spray sides first, then spray front face. It is 45 seconds touch dry .. but why didnt you mention the required conditions? If its wet, cold or snowing outside, your garage floor is one of the worst places to paint a part. It wont be touch dry in 45 seconds thats for sure

The usage conditions are on the side of the can under the directions. My video is not intended to make you not read the side of the can. READ and don't only rely on my video. Also my garage floor was heated and ventilated so I had no issues with moisture.

Still looks the same. Like brand new and my 3 year old daughter has even kicked it up a few times playing back there .
