In this video I use the fabric in the Crayola Solids Fat Quarter bundle by Riley Blake designs (I added a few additional solids from my Fabrique Stásch) to make a curve illusion quilt that I call Lovely MacIntyre.
If you love the Crayola Solids you can buy them on Amazon:

Just came across your channel yesterday. Love your quilts and technique simple and to the point. I pre-wash my fabric. In fact every piece Of fabric from the big box stores to the garage sales and thrift stores has been prewashed. If you don't use softener, your fabric will have body. I also starch as I go some fabric by spritzing the wrong side of the fabric. Whether you use the spray in a can or make your own by diluting to your preference the starches like Staflo. Works for me no right or wrong way. I also use a coat rack as a quilt suspension system. Couple bungee cords attached to your quilt helps with the drag. Again works for me. quilt police are not allowed at my house.

Dave, You can always add a border around but the border can be wider on upper and lower sides and narrower on the left/right sides, so the entire quilt becomes bigger and in the same time more rectangular versus square. Great job with this. I admire your patience and resilience 👍👍

Additional row to make rectangle is best! Great plaid lining! So tempting to do. You make it look easy. Inherited my mom's fabric stash. Will make some for charity and some to sell. Simple style for charity. Warmth more important than complexity.

Unfortunately it wasn't on the pages of the magazine that I clipped it must have been on a different page that I didn't save, and I don't know where those pages are anymore 😕, the only info I had was that it was by Karen Gibbs. I didn't actually use the pattern to make this quilt though, because it called for cutting 14 inch squares which isn't exactly fat quarter friendly. I just cut up fat quarters into 10 inch squares and made a block that looked like the picture, and I did that until I had enough blocks, (well I originally cut too few and had to make 16 more 😅)

You “believe” in prewashing the fabric even though every fabric manufacturer says not to? I don’t get that.
@davescraftroom
@davescraftroom 2 жыл бұрын
Personally I prefer to prewash, I didn't know that fabric manufacturers don't recommend it but I would still do it. I often mix different brands of fabrics in my quilts (like I did in this one); some of it is new off the bolt and some is old from my stash, some of it I bought used, so the only way for me to control the shrinkage is to make sure it happens before I cut the fabric. I've also dealt with a lot of color bleeding before and prewashing means if it's going to happen, it will happen before I put it in the quilt, and most likely won't happen upon additional washing. The crayola fabric did bleed a little bit in the washing machine, it wasn't a big issue but I'm glad it happened prior to assembling the blocks otherwise the colors would have bled into adjacent colors.
