Might have to consider this method if Canon doesn't launch a Canon M5ii or a sturdy removable EVF that has its own hot shoe. Cause aside from that and the lack of dual cards the M6ii is a great mirrorless APS-C for my needs.

Old compact cameras don’t trigger the flash at right moment of exposure. Same is true of many newer cameras. On camera flash won’t always trigger a slave and you should mention that.

I have a Sony a5100 it does not come with a hot shoe can I attach this to a transmitter instead of a flash to fire four off camera speed lights?

Yes, you can do that. Here is a link to another person's video illustrating that approach: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4ezlq2DgdyooNE

Hello Alex, My particular problem: I own a SONY CYBERSHOT RX100-2. As you know it has a flash shoe where I attach the infrared unit to trigger my studio heads. I've tried every flash mode in the camera, but I can NEVER get it to activate the trigger unit. I'd really appreciate your kind solution.

+poncio dupont By the way Alex, I use the same trigger unit on my Panasonic Lumix FZ50, and it works as a charm. Could that be that Sony programs the RX100-2 to ONLY recognize Sony flashes? I wish to buy the SONY CYBERSHOT RX10, because of its quality, but I'm afraid I'll be stack with the same problem.

+poncio dupont Hello, Poncio -- I don't have my Sony RX100 II anymore, but I got out my RX10 II and tested it with a Hensel Strobe Wizard, the transmitter I use to trigger studio flash heads. It worked fine in any flash mode, with the built-in flash on the camera not popped up. With flash mode set to fill-flash or flash off, it worked just fine, every time. The flash mode setting on the camera probably is not the issue.
