The strings concept is so true, I got a MIM P-Bass that looks super cool but it started sounded just kinda bland amd it kinda just got put at the end of my bass rotation, I started thinking about new pick ups even though it has Lollars. I didn't think my strings were that old but I stumbled upon a video about reviving your strings by boiling them or pulling and popping them and what do you know 😀, that bass came back to life after using the pull/pop technique.
