Thankyou for this. I was sad that my guitar would loose it's clear sound when using effects. This solved my problem. And my guitar and Helix sounds beast now:)

excellent ! this delay trick is amazing (and easy :) ) thanks. Helix rack + pair of powercab is still one of my my best purchage in music

What is the total signal path? Is the signal going to three separate guitar amps? Three separate powered speaker cabs? Direct to the computer? Or something else my feeble mind hasn't considered?
@DavidMorisset
@DavidMorisset 7 жыл бұрын
Are there 3 outputs for 3 amps? Would you need to isolate the ground and adjust the phase.

If you run the helix in 4cm, what effects loop type is best on a amp
@VinceKv57
@VinceKv57 7 жыл бұрын
Is this was by 4CM or straight to the input? Cause sounds so nice.

@Line 6 Movies - Do you have to use 3 separate outs to the speakers when running w/d? For instance do you need to run a separate L / R signal plus your mono signal to each speaker? Or would it work to route all Helix outs to say one XLR or one 1/4" to each speaker?
@CoffeeDrinker71
@CoffeeDrinker71 6 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing you have to run to separate L/R signals. He did not explain that, and left it vague. In a traditional W/D/W rig, they would have to be separated.
@chuckcostello5167
@chuckcostello5167 5 жыл бұрын
@@CoffeeDrinker71Yes that is traditional W/D/W but in this setup, he's creating that scenario within Helix with the benefit of only needing one output. It has an internal mixer that mixes the split signals together. No need to have 3 different outputs; that would negate the whole purpose of doing it from within, I believe.

what if you created a parallel signal path with the dry signal and wet signal of a hall reverb? Is this how Strymon gets those really nice hall reverb tones?
@ryanspencerlauderdale687
@ryanspencerlauderdale687 4 жыл бұрын
Josh Kim Well, Strymon’s analog dry through signal is ridiculously good, which is similar to what you’re describing.

This is the finder of positive grid right? Or is he a spokesperson for both companies?

I'm lost - he said that the reason for using wet/dry is because if the mix is too high, the reverberated sounds are too loud compared to the original sound. Why not just set it at a reasonable value and increase the overall volume?
@chuckcostello5167
@chuckcostello5167 5 жыл бұрын
You can do that. It's how I run mine. But this allows you to create over the top FX without muddying the original guitar signal and you're able to control the volume of it coming through as well. Pretty crafty.
@bdhunter12

The only problem, is that if you shut off the delay, your overall volume boosts by double! How do you combat that?

Help me out here...I must be missing something..When I do this and I pull the effects down to a separate path and turn those effects to 100% wet, my dry dignal sound is still not as loud as when the 100% wet pedal is bypassed... I don't understand what I'm doing wrong. I'm new to the Helix (have an LT) and I am LOVING it! Just can't figure out this secret...
@chuckcostello5167
@chuckcostello5167 5 жыл бұрын
In the video, he says you only need to have ONE of those FX turned to 100% wet, not all of them. Try that and see if it helps.

There is a problem With this approach: the reverb block is fed only by the delay's repetitions and not and never by the dry sound. If you listen carefully you can hear that the reverb starts only on the delay repetition. You should start another parallel path for reverb ...

or just put it after the signal path merges so it affects both wet and dry

I was gonna say...isn't this a wet/dry setup? don't you actually need a second wet path for a w/d/w? haha
@modernedge_studio

this is true- but those that have dragged all the amps, capture devices, rack FX, power amps and extra speaker will appreciate not lugging 200 lbs of extra gear around to not have anyone in the audience notice anyways... in the end it sort of ends up a stereo mix. The only one who can ever tell is me in the exact spot on a loud stage- even then it's negligible. Recording or at home in a sound studio diff story.

Next year marks the 10 year anniversary of when I shot the Eleven Rack videos, by the way - so you are a tad behind the times. I also don't own the same house or drive the same car. These Helix videos are already three years old.
