bro that comment would have been ok if krita wasnt a really good software to begin with i agree that an artist can make do with anything within reason, however, a good software will enable the artist to do more and better works, working with a good software is important

He always works like that. But that’s a great tip. I didn’t know it was that easy. A lot of program don’t make using reference that simple.
@MorningHawk1012 жыл бұрын
@@celestethoms Oh I know he does, when I work with Photoshop I did also (screens next to each other) but since Krita allows the ref on the same screen without interfering with your work, I wanted to point out that feature. I feel like it makes the work flow go much smoother. I will often crop different sections of the same ref for details when I need them as well, so I can just drag the from a different part of the workspace to the area of the piece I am working on. I never really did "art" with Photoshop just photo editing so Aaron walking through this is helpful for me to pick up on things I didn't understand Krita is meant to do. Krita is just amazing. It also has a quite complex Animation-Timeline. Would love to see you trying the Animation tools it has. It would be interresting to hear a professional oppinion, on how it stacks up to something like TVPaint. For beginners and Hobbyists, that can't or don't want to pay 1000th of $ for a license, Krita is definitly the way to go. + Krita has an Android Version too. A few tips. Right click brings up a Tool + Color palette and the Tab-Key hides the UI, so it is as distraction free, as it can get. Holding "Shift" allows you to change the brush size on the fly.

how much ram do you have? if you like to work with a lot of layers especially if they are big its going to crash on you once you hit your ram cap. you can go into settings and give krita a higher ram cap and that will help you out. feel like 16gigs is good enough for most people but 32 would be a good goal if you want to work with large layers and a lot of them. krita also auto saves every 15 minutes by default and im sure you can change that to whatever you want. can never be too careful i know before i got my ram situation figured out i had a few frustrating experiences.

But it mainly ripped away pretty much all the bloat and stuff I never use anyways. And what was left worked more like I always wanted Photoshop to work like that it wasn't even a contest. Getting a shuttle pro 2 was then the icing on the cake. As I could use the jog wheel, the rotary encoder, the macro buttons to flip through frames, test playback, switch between tools and add and clear frames all with minimal movement to the left hand. I amexperimenting with Blender's Grease Pencil. Mainly for 2.5D animation. But maybe even for ink n paint. But still. For just firing it up and work like on paper, I do love Krita.

Krita has a lot of potential, especially considering it's the only option for serious artists who use Linux. As competent as the program is, it still has some serious issues when it comes to workflow and basic ergonomics - namely the lack of a dedicated eraser tool, and the massive benefit it brings to workflow efficiency and brush management. This is the most common first hurdle I hear among artist circles, and the primary reason why the professionals I know chose to use other software. It's truly incredible how such a small oversight can hobble an entire project.

@@AaronBlaiseArt You will love it. Especially coming from Photoshop. I also tried Krita but a few basic things threw me off. For one the lack of a dedicated eraser was really annoying. Switching between a brush and a (different looking) eraser happens so often. And then the clipping mask system of Krita might be more powerful in some occasions, but it's visually overloading the layer palette and what is even worse, breaks the compatibility with Photoshop. In Clip Studio Paint I can easily export my image to Photoshop and all the clipping layers are intact - that's not possible in Krita. Make sure to check out the Liquify tool in CSP. And also check out the Tool Property palette - there you can expose the brush settings that you want for each brush individually. This is awesome. I was able to reduce my brush catalog down to a third of its size by using it. Via this palette now I can quickly enable color mixing for brushes, or enable the dual brush feature with just one click. In Photoshop I had separate brushes for all of that because I always had to go into the brush settings windows to change those options.
