I first saw Lisa on the Carol Duvall show. I remember Carol mentioning during an intro, that Lisa had been a body double for Julia Roberts. Lisa has some great products and techniques!

Love your product. Among other things, I use it to attach glass domes onto necklaces. Then under UV to cure. It can be a little expensive...At least it is "downunder" Cheers

Magic Glos® requires a UV light to cure. Under the light for 5-10 minutes it becomes rock hard. Here's a video on the UV light that's necessary to cure the Magic Glos®: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHqueKuclMuJpsk

how does the winter weather effect the item being set outside in the sunlight? Thanks so much :)
@FireMountainGems9 жыл бұрын
+RevKatherina The temperature should not affect the curing. Moisture is not good. It is the UV light that is important. As long as the sun is shining, you should be ok. Hope this helps! -Elle

Just air bubbles that keep coming back...maybe not....So I was using 25mm square silver plated cabochons under UV nail drying lights....Bubbles just kept coming back..This had me baffled for days...until I felt the temperature of the cabochon while under the lights...It was so so hot...unbelievable..The heat of the cab was causing the bubbles...so I raised the lights up...the cabs stayed cool and no more bubbles. Just thought I'd pass this on...cheers

I live in northern Europe, do I need an uv lamp for this resin? Or can I cure it in the sun/daylight? Will it cure in the daylight, when the sun isn't shining, does it just take longer? Or do I need the uv lamp? I really enjoy working with resin and love the outcome with magic glos. I'd like to try it, but I don't want to buy a lamp before I had a chance to test the resin.
@stephaniewerst74506 жыл бұрын
i used the lamp provided and recommended. It has been under the lamp's uv rays for over an hour and the piece still has a gummy under layers.

Hi, Stephanie! It sounds like an odd chemical reaction--what is under the Magic-Glos layer?
@stephaniewerst74506 жыл бұрын
Ice Resin. Noted. try to avoid two different type of resins. I was trying to provide a final gloss layer to a finished resin pendent. It doesn't work very well at all
@FireMountainGems6 жыл бұрын
Oh my, yes. ICE resin is a different animal. Leave it in a warm, dry place for a few days--it might be not precisely 50/50 mixed, so the chemical reactions are off.

The ice resin was completely cured and i think the new resin re activated it

I won’t deny, I have a few concerns: first one, even though she says it dries rock hard, she also said it’s easy to carve so that makes me think it could eventually scratch and/or chip. The other concern is yellowing. I have some older resined (not by me) items that have yellowed, making them quite unattractive. I wonder how this resin would hold up over time? I do love that you don’t need to mix it or wait days to cure and love the polymer clay “pedestal” tip. Does anyone reading this, have experience with these issues?

Yes, that will work just fine. The important part of this resin is that it's cured in ultra violet light such as natural sunlight or under a uv light. - Melissa

Fire Mountain Gems Customer Service, Lisa mentions that some lights that claim to be ‘long wave’, such as grow lights and reptile lights, may now work but she doesn’t mention nail polish curing lights. I guess it could be tested by someone willing to take a chance on wasting product. Probably best to get Lisa’s light that is made for this. Not sure how much those cost, though.

Magic-Glos has a shelf life of one year. It will then become thick. You can incorporate fresh new Magic-Glos into it and that helps thin the thickness of the Magic-Glos that is too thick to pour.

I am wanting to put this resin on a washer pendant that I have painted with Pebeo paints. My question is how do I apply the resin on the washer and what do I do about the hole in the middle of the washer while I am applying the resin?
@FireMountainGems6 жыл бұрын
Hi Sharon. If you are not wanting to fill the gap of the washer with resin then don't worry. Magic-Glos is self doming, self leveling and has surface tension. We would recommend starting out with a thin layer and as the resin moves to the edge of the gap, it will stop. If the layer isn't thick enough for your liking, then just apply another thin layer until it's the thickness you want. Now, if you do want to fill in the gap of the washing with resin, we have a great video on that technique and using painters tape. Here's a link to that video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5qYn3l3d7CmqMk You want to build up the gap with resin and then once filled, apply the resin to the entire surface of the washer. We hope that helps!

I'm trying to cover artwork printed on cardstock (set in a flat tray for pendant) with Magic-Glos, but it appears the paper is absorbing the glos and it's looking like a mess. Is there something I should use to seal the cardstock first?
@librainred7 жыл бұрын
I know this was six months ago, so I don't know if you found the answer you were looking for. I took a class on how to use this product and we ended up sealing the image with clear packing tape. You want to make sure that it is completely sealed with a small edge around the outside. The Magic-Glos will break down the paper very quickly, especially if it's printed with an inkjet.

Hi guys, I bought magic glos and put it under UV light for 30 minutes and it’s still completely liquid. Can anyone help me figure out what I might be doing wrong!? :(
@FireMountainGems6 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Did you put it under an actual UV light like Lisa's UV light that we sell? Or, did you put it in natural UV light and if so, was it outside or in a window sill?
@malditoklee6 жыл бұрын
Fire Mountain Gems and Beads no I used the "Sensationail light" and it was at night. I have notice that the a drop I placed on a piece of plastic and out in the sun today has indeed dried. Is my problem the UV light I am using? Also can I do a rotational mold with Magic Glos, I need to make a small transparent shell. Thank you!
@FireMountainGems6 жыл бұрын
We're not familiar with that brand of light so we can't say for sure if it's the light that's the issue. A true long wave UV light will cure the Magic Glos like Lisa's that we offer, as will direct outdoor sunlight. If exposed to a chemical substance, Magic Glos won't cure either. In speaking with our jewelry designers, they don't believe a rotational mold can be done with Magic Glos. We hope that helps!

OK thank you, I've order the correct long wave uv light. I'll let you know if that was the problem :) Thanks again!

once its hardened, can the finished result be oxidized?
@firemountaingemscustomerse77628 жыл бұрын
Since it cures clear, oxidizing it would probably result in a cloudy effect. We've never experimented with that, but if you do, let us know how it turns out.

The product was so thick it wouldn`t pour. When I squeezed the bottle it came out as a clump and just sat there. I had to use a brush to spread it and it made a mess.
@FireMountainGems Жыл бұрын
Oh no! was the resin stored in a cold area? Cold temperature can cause the resin to get thick. The age of the resin could also contribute to it becoming thicker.

Hello. Lisa mentions that it is "non-toxic for handling". Anything that is described as "non-toxic" means after it is fully 100% cured. It will absolutely give off toxic fumes until then.

No instructions with my bottle and never knew I needed a long wave UV lamp, it's really dusty outside where I live. Instructor of the tutorial never said anything plus it's super expensive, over $16.00 for 1 oz, and hard to find especially in Canada. Going to Art Resin 2 part epoxy as I can't trust other UV resins from China. They refuse to answer questions about whether the product has an odor or not which tells me they smell pretty bad. I wanted this for doll eyes especially and some other polymer clay work. Too bad it had the potential to solve a lot of issues.
