I'm on month 3 since switching to a menstrual cup. The first 2 months were messy. I kept leaking and kept saying to myself, "I KNOW I have it over my cervix cause it's covered" but I kept leaking. THIS month, I tried something different and decided to move my menstrual cup more-so to the right side and see what happens. My gawd, it work!! I didn't leak at all for this month! Now I know why I kept leaking the previous 2 months. My cervix points more to the right than in the centre.

This is SO helpful. I'm 100% comfortable with all parts of my body and getting up in there to figure out what's going on. I have been so frustrated trying different cups and all of the demos and trouble shooting out there, I tried it all. About a 85% fail rate and they were never comfortable, some even put so much pressure on my bladder that I had ongoing issues with being able to start/stop peeing after taking them out for a few days. Every demo that just uses those plastic tubes or 2D models didn't help at all. THIS model actually helped me visualize what is going on down there.

Hello, I love the educational content you're putting out there for people everywhere. Thank you for everything you do! I wanted to ask if you've heard that most women in the prison systems are usually not given enough menstrual products and have to wear them much longer than is recommended. I was wondering if you would ever consider raising awareness on that issue or maybe even working to provide reusable cups or discs for women that are in those situations? Having the proper products for our periods is something I know I took for granted until I learned that.

You're a frigging genius. I would love to hear more about this. If anything, it would make sense for women in prison systems to use more reusable period products that non-resuable products. It would just seem like it's harder to keep up with.

OMG! I’ve been using the same brand cup for nearly a decade, and just within the last two years I’ve been getting leaks. My doctor told me that my cervix is tilted backward. She’s been my gyn for twenty-one years, so I figured this must be new info since she only mentioned it recently. This all makes so much sense. You just saved me from going mad over this! I literally get anxiety over the thought of going back to tampons.

You can definitely insert a cup past the cervix and have a hard time retrieving it, if you have a low cervix . My learning curve with the cup was more about figuring out how to make sure the cup was enclosing my cervix, instead of being half the cup or more, past it.

Thank you so much for making this! I remember not so long ago i asked for this; while drinking my coffee and saw this in my suggestions i was like "Yes, she saw the comments!" You made my day lol I was told i was tilted when i got an ultrasound early in life and told i had a little tilt when i was expecting my daughter. Now over time trying out discs and cups I've learned my cervix goes to the back and when high its like ceiling light hovering up there and gotta find it lol. I took the disc quiz and over n over was told my fit was cora so im hoping to get one soon someday; i also was told the mermaid, or Lena L was a good fit since my old cups are now too small and slide down and leak so bad. I can't wait to try my new Lena this coming month, you've been a lifesaver and wouldn't have stuck with trying new products and find what's right for me without your education and videos! Thanks so very much again! (And yes I'm officially admitting, I'm apart of The Cup Cult.) I'm so curious on what things work for tilted girls like i am lol Report I've tried Cora, it's my Goldilocks disc! Im so happy, no leaking! Ty so much Disc Quiz ❤

For those who have trouble getting their cup to open... I found out through personal trial and error that my cup was being smushed in by my cervix before it could open. A quick and easy remedy to my frustration to get the cup to pop open was to simply allow it to open up lower in my vaginal canal instead of pushing it up to high. And for reference, I have a high cervix and retroverted uterus.

Agreed! I couldn’t figure out why mine was leaking and having trouble opening it fully, then realised I was inserting it too straight up and so hitting my cervix and so was only covering half and stopping the cup from opening properly. Realised I have to go further diagonal to fully cover the opening.

Thank you so much! I'm doing research on menstrual cups and found a review mentioning someone who had a tilted cervix and her CUP was leaking as a result, I thought they shouldn't even be near the cervix but now I understand after watching your video how that can happen (inserting too far past the cervix or the position of the cervix), it made me nervous about even using a cup as I also have a tilted cervix, but have never had problems with tampons, and I don't know how far my tilt is or in what position. I think I will still give a cup a try, and if I leak I'll know to just fiddle around with the position. I also want to try a disc later and this has helped me a lot with which ones I may try!

Interesting. I was told ages ago I have a tilted uterus, but fortunately it has not caused any issues with menstrual cups. Recently I’ve gotten curious about trying a disc, mainly because sometimes the pressure of the cup can be uncomfortable and lately it’s been harder to get my cup out because of it sitting higher when I originally trimmed the stem to keep it from poking out.

I see a lot of comments about going past the cervix so I assumed I was having a similar issue ... I have been using a cup for about 4 months and the past 2 months I have been having leaks and it's very strange because the cup is suctioned but the blood goes around it. Ok so ... TMI ( but that's what we are here for anyway) after watching this video I slid my finger around the cup and realized I could touch my cervix BEHIND the cup so it was actually suctioning on my front wall where the urethra is and then the blood was going behind it ughhhhh Thank you so much I was getting so frustrated. BTW I have tried keeping the cup lower but that doesn't really solve my issue. I guess I will try pressing it down to get it to suction on the right place

I use the lumma disc and I like it. Pretty sure my cervix is pretty low and titled, I just wear a cloth pad in case of spillage/leaks. Usually I can feel when it's full and can go to the restroom and have it self empty. Only issue is the disc is 100% collapsed but the cervix sits in the disc. Still prefer this over the cup as it gives me less cramps and the cup stem always jabs me on the side 😰.

Years ago I tried a cup for the first time (Organicup). Whithin a few hours I couldn't walk anymore because of severe pain, I seriously thought I had to go to the hospital if it wouldn't go away because it was so severe! It took me half a day to figure out that it was because of the cup. When I took it out, the pain vanished in minutes! A lot of research later I bought a shorter cup (Me Luna Short) and I've never had any issue ever since. I think it's sad that there are so little options for shorter cups, and that there's little knowledge out there. It makes me sad thinking that other women might have quit using a cup alltogether because of these kinds of experiences.

Tysm for sharing! You've saved me a lot of pmdd-meltdowns by explaining how the disk fits differently from the cup with retroflexion. I used cups up until I went on oral bc 7 years ago, my cycle stopped entirely so I had no need for cups. I got a copper iud earlier this year and was initially instructed that a disk would be better than a cup with the iud. The top lip of the disk would sort of pop out whenever I emptied my bladder (worse when ibs-c joined the fun) so i gave up and have been using only pads for the past 4 cycles. I'm incredibly relieved to know that the cup will likely work just as effectively as it used to! *adds cup to cart*

But I was considering switching to a disc because my cycle is very heavy (have to empty every 1-2 hours on the middle 3 days of my cycle). I heard that discs hold more and heard about the auto dump feature from a friend. I'd love some advice. I've been told I have a definite tilt. So much so 1 doctor had to go rectally to actually gage the size of my uterus in early pregancy to find out if I was growing properly for how far along I was. I have used cups, sometimes their ok, but I really have a hard time getting them to open up, in fact in trying I've pulled it too far out and the pressure to push it further in after opening is painful. I have been trying a self emptying Cora disc. And it catches some but I leak consistantly, and it feels like the disc has not unfolded completely once I tuck it behind my public bone. The catching part still feels mushed and wrinkled. I really think I'll have to go back to cups because I can't feel past my Cervix to the dip where it meets the back wall at all. I actually have trouble inserting my fingers far enough to feel back there. I will likely go back to cups, but how can I convince it to open? I've gotten so frustrated with it I go back to pads 3 days in. (Tampons completely stop my flow until my next cycle for some reason, so I don't try to use them anymore). Any advice?

I have an inverted uterus and have ALWAYS leaked through tampons. Even now that I’ve had 3 children, tubal ligation and now have heavier periods I leak through ultra tampons. I recently tried a cup and took me a while to get the right angle, a lot of trial and error and still leaked. I’m considering trying a disk because the cup hits my cervix and I feel it. Maybe the disk has a little more coverage inside 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just got a Hello disc and I've been having some problems. The first time I was able to get it in I had to take it out again after about 15 minutes because of the pain it was causing by my lower back and the slightly nauseas feeling I was getting the longer it was in. I had a feel around once I took it out to try and get a better idea of the layout of things and I think my cervix might be tilting backwards. Would the disc putting pressure on the cervix cause that type of pain? Also, if I can get my finger inside the disc while it's in place should i be able to feel my cervix "sitting" inside it? (My cervix is high and my pubic bone is quite low if that matters)

I don't know if this is a common issue for women. I have recently tried the discs and am having a bit of an issue. I can't tell if it is tucked behind my pubic bone and since i have really short fingers it is hard to get the disc further in. How can i tell when i have teached the correct area? Will there be a certain feel to look for? Also I tried the soft disc brand with relative sucess due to this some minor leakining the first time and my husband says he can feel it when we are intimate. However, i had a major allergic reaction to the flex disc brand that caused sever pain, sickness and discomfort

Thank you so much for this video! I know I have a tilted uterus, and I have struggled so much with cups and discs. During my period my cervix seems to be non-existent, so I think it must be tucked all the way up and in the back. Discs don't work at all for me! I have mixed results with the cups. I'm going to try putting them more to one side and see if that helps!

So I’ve tried to use a disc before and I’d really like to be successful but I definitely have an anterior uterus so I just assumed that’s why it didn’t work. Is there anyway to really tell if that’s what it is my cervix is just too tilted and close to the wall? It felt like the disc would only sit vertical in my canal. I couldn’t get it to go horizontal and seal at all.

My question is, I’m 34 and new to menstrual cups. I saw that the diva cup says if you are over 30 or have had children, to get the size B (larger size). I have never had kids but I am over 30. So I did what was recommended and I truly feel like it is too big for me. Is this even possible? I feel so stupid asking this right now but I don’t knowwwww.

I have a titled and a long cervix. Trying to use a menstrual disc today and thought it was me. I can never get the disc in and it ends up being painful. Same with tampons.

you mention it can tilt at different angles but what if it tilts left or right? like i think my cervix is tilted towards my right side. i notice when i remove my disc that it naturally sits more in the right side of my body. it sounds weird but does anyone else notice this?

My problem is that with my saalt cup I struggle getting a grip on it as my fingers aren’t the longest and and now my cycles are a smidge heavier so it’s messy I really never mastered my pelvic floor muscles as I had two c sections and I’d love to go back to using my cups I started a few weeks before I wound up finding out I was expecting my second and haven’t went back to it except a few times

What about anterior tilt of the uterus. My cups always leak , would disc be better. Never had a problem with tampons unless they are full

Hi thank you so much for this video it’s super helpful!. I just started using my menstrual cup and the gripping part seemed to always be slanted on the right side, and it’s really hard to grip, does that mean I have a tilted cervix?
@PeriodNirvana

If your cup consistently slants at that angle it's possible. A cup with a longer stem might help prevent it from slanting as far but it's always hard to say.

Well it seems I have a tilted uterus cause I just switched for menstrual cup and i was getting frustrating because I am having massive leaks…I knew it was because the cup doesn’t open properly! I don’t feel that “pop” that someone told I have to feel but I didn’t know the reason!…murder scene in my bathroom every time 😭

If i recall correctly i think my cervix tilts forward. I was going to have it fixed but OBGYN says men think sex feels better with the bending. So i left it. Now, i cannot use tampons because they push out and feel like they are pulling my guts out during removal. Also at times cause headaches. Im trying the softdisc right now. Didnt know they existed. I watched your other video but couldnt seem to fit that last bit behind my pelvic bone. Not sure if my cervix is high or.low but i tried my first disc. I guess time will tell if it leaks on me or not. I hope it works because tampons suck with my female anatomy. Id love to order reusable silicone discs if these work with my girly bits.
