Many professional lighting consoles have presets (aka pallets) where you can select individual attributes of a moving light such as color, focus, position, etc. In this way you can quickly build a look on stage instead of having to deal with a lot of sliders and knobs for each attribute. It generally makes programming easier and faster to achieve the desired look.
In this video I use the virtual console in QLC+ to create my own presets (aka pallets) so that I can quickly build a look for moving lights or edit a look that is already in a cue.
This series of videos was created to help community theater groups. It is an introduction and series of tutorials using QLC+, a lighting program that can replace a traditional light board and is a great alternative to community theater groups due to its attractive cost.
