Using Ohuhu Alcohol Markers | Rocktastic Arts

I bought Ohuhu brush markers y'all ... I've always wanted some, and I finally decided I must have them now. I bought the biggest set they have available because I will use them a lot (and let me tell you, they are very expensive - but so worth it ), you can buy their smaller sets if you don't need to use them a lot. I bought them from Amazon, I am in the process of starting the Amazon Affiliate Program, and I will add links to the products I use shortly. Back to the markers ... they have splendid bright vibrant colors, and the number of different colors they have available is simply crazy, it's very exciting to use these markers to paint rocks ... can you tell I love my new markers :)
This week I used only one color per rock, next week I will do a part two to this video, and I will do multicolored rocks, using more than one color. If you love painting rocks using alcohol inks - this is for you. It is much less messy, you don't waste a ton of ink, and they have absolutely no smell. These are a bunch of the best looking painted rocks I've done so far. I saw that Ohuhu did some acrylic paint pens for rock painting, but I have a ton of acrylic markers, and I wanted something different. The way each color reacts to the alcohol is so much fun to watch. Let me know if you have any questions, and have fun painting rocks :)

Hi, thanks so much… these words are premium vinyl, made from the same material as car decals and can stay outside for 6 years… these colours however are alcohol and will fade away very quickly in the sun… if you keep them in doors away from the sun, they will stay for ever basically… mine are going on two years and they are just as bright as the day I made them… hope that helps :)

I love your rocks. Do you let the primer dry before coloring with alcohol marker? Have you tried other brands of alcohol markers?

Yes definitely, the primer needs to dry overnight before you use the markers on the rocks. I used the crayola ones, and I used sharpies, but the Ohuhu ones were the most vibrant.

@@RocktasticArts The Ohuhu markers are the same as Artify right? I have the Artify markers and recognise some of the Ohuhu colour codes match mine.

Many thanks for sharing. I'd never have considered using alcohol markers for something like this (I have a bunch of them lying around as well). Regarding the product you used to prime the stone is it just white acrylic paint that you used? Thanks again!

I usually use chalk paint but white paint or gesso is fine too 😊

Yes any of the above can be used as a base paint… I just find chalk paint is extra matt and works really well as a base coat.

Hi, how important is a base coat and how long before you seal the rock with the clear gloss. I have the equivalent pens and really want to rock with them.

These colours are somewhat see through so a base coat here is very important to make these colours pop… these ones dry very fast, so I leave them for half an hour then seal. Acrylic paint needs to be left overnight before you seal it, but this is way faster.

Wonderful fun - question: alcohol inks are notorious for fading in sunlight after just a few short days. Do you find using gesso for a base and adding the Dura Clear prevents this fading? Thank you for sharing your wonderful videos. Very inspiring.

Thank you for your kind words... I make sure I don’t leave any of my art in the sun. My mom left a mandala with acrylics in the sun and it faded, so any type of art you leave in the sun will fade... I love the sun, but my art doesn’t 😊

In 75%, I tried the 95% and it made no difference so I use the lighter one because it has less of a smell to it.

I don’t sell them because it’s very expensive to ship from Canada... I usually sell them at an event for charity, or give them away... but all the rocks I’ve done on my videos I keep... my studio is in my basement and they’re all around me making me happy... maybe one day I’ll be ready to let them go, but not yet 💕
