Great video. Thanks. But kinda tricky putting "nascere" in that last practice sentence. It doesn't follow the regular pattern. I wrote "sono nascute" ??
@kipkie57322 жыл бұрын
I think nascere is an irregular verb, so it’s supposed to become nato?

hey prof really helpful vid! just wondering what is the difference between an intransitive verb and a transitive verb?
@cyranodebergerac158 Жыл бұрын
Hi. A transitive verb may be followed by an object, i.e I ate an apple; while an intransitive verb cannot be followed by an object, i.e I went.. to school. So verbs such as eat, drink, take, buy are called transitive verbs, and verbs such as go, come, become, rise are called intransitive ones. Hope this helps. Best regards..

@@ProfessorDaveExplains can you explain why?
@ProfessorDaveExplains4 жыл бұрын
unfortunately not very articulately, these come from my mom's curriculum and she could explain the grammar clearly, i just look at that and know it's wrong but can't really explain why! i mean other than that the translation would be "we are let's go", which sounds weird.
@littleantony89444 жыл бұрын
I'm not italian, but based on my on language, I would say you can't conjugate the main verb. The auxialiary is responsible for the concordance.
@BlueTomBlue4 жыл бұрын
Andiamo would suggest that you are speaking in present tense. In order to speak in past tense, the verb andare must be conjugated to andati.

can you explain what verb form is "essere state" ? it is in a book of italian stories and used with the meaning of "have been" . Google translate agrees with this translation, but i cannot find this verb form in my book of italian verbs. I know that "sono state" means have been so how can essere state mean the same?
@thepoet91384 жыл бұрын
Marion Walsh it is verb to be . I am, you are etc.
@marionwalsh86874 жыл бұрын
@@thepoet9138 thank you for answering. I know the verb is "to be" but what tense is it? As I mentioned, I have an Italian verb book which gives each verb in all of the tenses and there is no "essere state". So I am puzzled.

Sono state = I have been Essere state = to have been (infinitive)
