it's hold right and menu to decrease the auto fire rate and hold left and menu to increase the fire rate, handy video most people dont know autofire is built in.

Thanks for this, I wish there was a menu option to set this in each core, but now that you've explained this now it's much easier than luck to get it right.

Cool had no idea about this! Great tutorial too - really appreciate your instructions on all your videos like this (joystick for ao486 etc) :)

I'm not sure I'l use this, but this i helpful to know. It makes you wonder why this was implemented this way rather than in the menu.

Oh nice to know, i often using that Brawler Controller or the 8Bitdo Arcade one, both gladly have Autofire Button :D But this will come handy with others!

It’s a nice option to have, shame it’s such a complicated mess to get working.

That's a good tip, I didn't even know it HAD a turbo fire. Hey can you mix your mic into a mono stream in the future? I found the constant side-shifting extremely distracting.

Changing the speed is what I have a hard time with. I know it uses the d-pad but I can't do it without spamming buttons😂 I have noticed the millisecond rate on the turbografx controllers is different than the MISTer. I haven't tried the slower rate to see if it matches though. Thanks for the explanation, I likely would never have looked up how to change autofire speeds lol❤

Nice one. But do you now if there's a way to have two MiSTer-buttons mapped to one in-game button? One for rapid and one for holding? So you can switch between rapid and hold without using the menu-combo. E.g. A for hold and B for rapid, but both mapped to the same In-Game shoot button.

What I'd really like is a way to set a dedicated turbo button, at least for cores that don't use all available buttons, instead of replacing the B button with rapid B for example and then turning it back off. Setting Y as a permanent turbo B for example. And I've never been sure if that's possible.
@DenisBrkhus
@DenisBrkhus Жыл бұрын
The way to do this is to add an alternate button for the dedicated turbo. Say you have A as fire, then you add X as an alt fire, then enable auto fire for X.
@adt636

@@DenisBrkhus how do you add an alternate button?
@lukeridout1529

@@adt636 After you've defined all the keys/buttons for the core in the menu, it will ask if you want to set up alternate controls. Choose "Yes" and then Skip/Undefine until you find the correct key/button you want to define as the alternate.

Nice info, didm't know how to change the rate of fire. I set my menu button to the R3, that's a button you won't need nor press accidentally as it's hard AF to press

I use an 8Bitdo M30 2.4 controller and like most 8Bitdo controllers you have built in rapid-fire.

In my experience, 32ms is almost always too fast so I usually find the rapid fire works best at slightly slower rates like 96ms as you say. I have one question, why does the rapid fire feature on MiSter seem to work in "bursts". It's hard to explain but i'm pretty sure it does, as when I use the physical rapid fire switches I have on various USB controllers, it does not happen. No matter what rate I set via the MiSTer-turbofire, it seems to operate in "bursts" with noticeable, regular halts in firing speed. To be honest I find it a bit annoying so I usually use a physical switch on my controller now.

Hmm, that's strange. I haven't experience that. I get a constate rate of fire. No pauses.

I see some Rtype Leo footage here. Anybody else notice how some sound effects are randomly louder than others on this Mister core?
@lukeridout1529
@lukeridout1529 Жыл бұрын
I think you can go into the core settings for that Irem core and adjust the sound to your liking. Most of the games in this Irem core do the same thing.

Easy to understand but.... How to set a propper setup for games like viewpoint. You need autofire from button a and you need button a without autofire for the charge shot.......

Is the only function I don't like how it was implemented in mister compared to retroarch or mame(the best one). I would like to choose more precisely the rate and have an option to save it per game.

Do you have to keep the button depressed in order to fire? In certain games, like R-type and Rockman, this kind of rapid fire disables your charged shot. Is there a true *_autofire_* option in the MiSTer? Autofire= the assigned button shoots by itself but when you depress it, it holds fire (and your shot gets charged). Some joysticks had this option back in the days. Rapidfire= you keep the assigned button depressed and it shoots multiple times instead of charging.
@lukeridout1529
@lukeridout1529 Жыл бұрын
Well, kind of. You have to set up an alternate button control scheme and define the alternate button you want to set as Rapidfire there. True autofire, probably not.

What controller are you using? I use 8bitdo and the menu button is level with the controller so this would never happen. I used to use an Xbox controller and the menu button is in the middle and up the top. Again hard to accidentally press. Do you have a controller with a menu button close to the normal keys?
