using real ww2 german tactics in a game!?

Today I'm going to be using real WW2 German tactics, but in a strategy game!
We will do every operation, every combat and every strategy in the same way that Germany did during WW2.
This will be the most realistic HOI4 game you will ever see!
Welcome to a new series on the channel where we use actual strategy and real tactics throughout history but in a strategy game.
We are going to be visiting various tactics, such as the Blitzkrieg aka WW2 German tactics, Napoleonic tactics, Roman tactics, Japanese tactics in WW2, strategy used in WW1 and so on.
The goal of this series is to showcase every tactic and strategy used in history and see how they hold up in a real game such as Hearts of Iron 4, Total War, Civilization etc.
Can we reach full realism?
Well let's find out in todays episode where we replicate the real German strategy during WW2, but in Hearts of Iron 4!
This is going to be a big HOI4 challenge, because we all know how Hearts of Iron 4 can be with exact realism...

The unhistorical part (and the most annoying if you're playing Allies) is Soviet's meager opposition in the west. Yes, they got destroyed and encircled many times in Belarus and Ukraine, but they keep pumping out more troops so that each step after that is a slugfest to Moscow. Germans irl got to Moscow towards the winter like November whereas Pixel was there September. Also non-agression pact with Japan means Soviet could bring fresh troops from Siberia. The AI, on the other hand just HAD to protect Vladivostok at all costs, even when it being the loss of Moscow and the industrial area

The idea of such warfare is similar to the island hopping tactics in the Pacific. You'd land on a few less defended easy target islands around a larger one, make the islands into bases for ships and planes then kill the shipping around the large island to take it easier. Here you rush around the main supply hubs to split them off from one another, build up your presence on the encirclement then crush inwards on the isolated large city. Basically put, more quick and cheap territory of vital supply importance means more easy kills.

I think the big difference is: Lend-Lease, provided 80% of motorised and 25% of the food to Soviets + much more. I think a proportionate increase in enemy divisions and equipment would make it tough for you

also the soviet AI doesnt know how to prioritise fronts and it spreads its gargantuan army way too thin by trying to protect the entire soviet border from finland to japan, so it often results in the soviets leaving some of their best divisions on the japanese border instead of sending them west to hold off the germans

While a real person would obviously try and break the encirclements and try and protect their supply hubs the strategy of avoiding popping encirclements and just racing down victory points actually works surprisingly well for preserving manpower against the AI

Fun fact: did you know that the german cruiser prinz eugen was so advance on its time that it was used after the war for the US navy for research and military service. It was so hard to destroyed that 2 nukes were not able to destroy it completly.

@@nikolatesla6772 and yet they didn't use the word Blitzkrieg in any documentations, journals or other paperworks and the only german reference for that word is a referal to allied usage (specifically in allied propaganda). it's a buzzword. In reality there is no Blitzkrieg tactic or strategy. If anything it's a timeperiod between 1939 with the Invasion of Poland and 1940 with the capitulation of France.

I'm surprised that no one is talking about Pixel making Tigers for operation Barbarossa. In the time Barbarossa was launched, Germany's strongest tanks were Panzer III's and early versions of Panzer IV. In France there were no German medium tanks, just Panzer II's.
