After successfully using real WW2 German tactics, now it's time for us to turn to the next baddie of World War II, JAPAN!
Yes! Today I'm going to be using REAL WW2 Japanese tactics, but in a strategy game.
This will be the most realistic HOI4 Japan game you will ever see.
Welcome back to the most popular series on the channel where we use actual strategy and real tactics throughout history, but in a game.
We are going to be visiting various tactics, such as the Blitzkrieg aka WW2 German tactics, Napoleonic tactics, Roman tactics, Japanese tactics in WW2, strategy used in WW1 and so on.
The goal of this series is to showcase every tactic and strategy used in history and see how they hold up in a real game such as Hearts of Iron 4, Total War, Civilization etc.
We have already achieved full realism with Germany in WW2 and HOI4, but now it's time to do the same with Japan.
This is the ultimate HOI4 dchallenge, replicating real Japan strategies during WW2!

The thing I like about this video is that he actually struggled. It wasn’t just the typical Hoi4 thing where the player just immediately steamrolls the ai but I still would like to see a video by a major hoi4 youtuber where they lose to the ai while being a major nation.

Majors are hard to lose as. With minors you have to grind for those first few factories so you can put together the engine, and then start up the engine to get you going- whereas with majors, you're just topping off the gas tank and going where you need to. Paradox games aren't very difficult either way though, and the only way to make it hard is by limiting yourself

Ai is braindead, for me after 100 hours every country is easy (except Luxembourg and Tannu-Tuva, but with some exploits they also easy), you can buff ai, but it's just time-consuming, not hard. Paradox should fix the ai.

I thought I would lose my first few games , but my italians pulled through in the end, the AI can do well for a time but it just collapses in the end. Either their frontline gets too big or they cant equip their devisions and then its battleplan ftw

This is both fun to watch and interesting history wise seeing the thought and strategy of the Japanese empire, so how about going from one island empire to another and play the United kingdom, they not only had a lot of different war plans and strategy but also had a semi unique tank doctrine which could be interesting to play, not to mention you could try and defend the lowlands like they originally planed

I recommend it 100% it is definitely my favorite country, however it is challenging because it is very micro heavy, but it is non stop action and requires you to use every aspect of warfare in the game. There's also plenty of "ahistorical" yet still realistic routes you can take with it that aren't gamey, for example invading the USSR in 1941 with Germany rather than the US if you've beat China by then, or going to war with the Allies in 1939 (which is risky, but can also help the Axis immensely through denying the Allies rubber and therefore plane production when the German Airforce is at its strongest).

The actual Japanese plan for america(not to invade them at all)was to Pearl Harbor, and take the south with blinding speeds to at-least stun the stats into letting them keep their land gains, and if it didn’t work they expected(if they actually hit the targets that would cause such a long time)it would take america 1 year to fix the harbor enough to begin a counter offensive, but they planned in such a situation that they would have managed to cement themselves enough to repel most if not all pushed from the states, because they actually knew they stood no chance in a long term war against america
